- Masters Degree
- Valid New Hampshire School Psychologist Certification or proof of eligibility
- Comprehensive knowledge of school psychology theory, child growth and development, conditions affecting learning and behavior, psychological tests and measurements, academic assessments, functional behavior assessments / behavior intervention plans, and crisis management
- Ability to work cooperatively as an interdisciplinary team member and establish and maintain effective working relationships with community agencies, students, families, teachers, administrators and others
- Ability to select, interpret and use diagnostic and assessment data
- Counseling, interviewing, and crisis intervention skills
- Ability to handle confidential information with complete security
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and time management skills
- Knowledge, skills and abilities to apply and interpret federal, state and local laws and policies related to educational service requirements for students
- Valid driver's license and ability to drive required due to travel between District schools
- Selects, administers, scores and interprets psychological and academic tests and utilizes other assessment methods, including formal and informal observation, in order to determine student needs and assess student performance, providing support or re-evaluation as necessary
- Compiles comprehensive psychological assessment reports that address the reason for referral and include appropriate recommendations
- Assist teachers and other school personnel in the design and implementation of educational and behavioral interventions for referred students and provides expertise in progress monitoring to guide data-based decision making
- Participate in the eligibility process and development of Individual Education Plans and 504 Plans by serving as a member of interdisciplinary teams and providing recommendations on services, plans, placements and interventions using a multi-tiered instructional service delivery model
- Confer and collaborate with parents and other school personnel on matters relative to behavior management, child development, learning, mental health, or any other areas within the expertise of the school psychologist to address student needs, resolve problems and/or to understand the reason(s) for referral
- Conducts specialized individual and group therapy/counseling sessions to address specific emotional, social, and behavioral needs of identified students who would benefit from such services
- Serves as a resource to teachers and staff regarding psychological services and the academic/psychological needs of students and communicates case findings and recommendations for students as needed
- Promotes a shared vision of high academic and behavioral performance for all students and builds collaborative and respectful relationships with school staff and other interdisciplinary team members
- Serves as a liaison between the student, home, school, private counseling facilities and community resources such as social services, court services, and family service agencies.
- Acts as a member of the school and district crisis team to provide intervention to students as necessary
- Maintains confidential and accurate case records on all students regarding referrals, assessments and any other services provided by the school psychologist
- Makes court appearances to present data and performs court-requested evaluations.
- Keeps up to date on current research, trends and best practices relevant to school psychology
- Assist with in-service training of school personnel on topics related to working with students and attends staff meetings as necessary
- Follows the district's policies and procedures and state, federal and local laws and regulations related to special education
- Perform other tasks and assume other responsibilities as assigned by the Special Education Director

Job Goal:
This position performs specialized psychological work in an educational setting to help students achieve optimal learning. This work includes collecting, assessing, and analyzing individual student information from observations, evaluations and assessments of referred students and working cooperatively as an interdisciplinary team member to plan and provide appropriate interventions and services through the student services department and provides opportunities for direct social skills instruction and counseling support.
Performance Responsibilities:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit. The employee will occasionally be required to stand, walk, bend and reach. The employee must be able to occasionally lift and/or move items weighing up to 15 pounds. Manual dexterity is required to finger, handle or grasp objects. Must be able to hear, talk. Ability to drive required due to travel necessary within and outside of District.
