    Description:


    Under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse, the Nursing Assistant collects and reports patient information and data as directed.

    The Nursing Assistant helps assigned patients with all activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, diet and fluid intake, elimination, skin care, bathing and dressing, positioning, transfers, mobility, and ambulation.

    Performs selected tasks, such as patient transport, collection of specimens, distribution of linens and supplies to patient rooms, and delivery of ice and beverages to patients as directed.

    As assigned, stays with at-risk patients to monitor safety.

    The Nursing Assistant provides care according to hospital procedures in a manner that protects the safety and dignity of patients.

    Partial access to medications is given to the incumbent of this position because they are required by their job responsibilities to transport or stock medications to approved medication storage locations.


    At Saint Francis Hospital the Nursing Assistant is responsible for assisting physicians while providing exceptional treatment to patients with a variety of medical conditions.

    What you will do

    Collect and report patient information and data

    Patient Transport

    Collection of specimens

    Distribution of linens and supplies to patient rooms

    Deliver ice and beverages to patients

    As assigned, stays with at-risk patients to monitor patient safety

    Minimum Qualifications

    Education:
    High school diploma or equivalent. Graduate of a Connecticut approved Nurse Aide Training Program preferred or in process of earning a BA in Nursing OR Health Sciences with at least one clinical completed OR significant previous healthcare related experience

    Proof with college transcript required OR have significant nurse assistant/healthcare related experience is required


    Certification:
    BLS certification required

    Previous experience as a Nursing Assistant in an acute care setting preferred

    Ability to pass drug screening and background check
