- Assess and teach Deaf students using Maryland's state standards and develop IEPs.
- Create and maintain a classroom conducive to learning.
- Prepare and maintain weekly lesson plans based on student assessments and data.
- Teach lessons using best practices of bilingual pedagogy and differentiated instruction.
- Maintain grade books, portfolios, unit plans, daily attendance, and emergency classroom lesson plans.
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Certification by the Maryland State Department of Education within a prescribed amount of time.
- Fluency in American Sign Language and written English.
- Knowledge of Deaf culture, Deaf Education, and ability to teach students with varying educational and language acquisition backgrounds.
- Master's degree in Education or Special Education of Deaf students.
- Maryland State Department of Education Certification.
