    The salary for newly appointed Border Patrol Agents varies from $61,111 to $124,443 per year, with eligibility for up to $45,000 in overtime pay. Officers also enjoy an array of federal employment benefits, including health, dental and other insurance plans, generous annual and sick leave, and participation in the Thrift Savings Plan.

    Location incentives are available for certain duty locations, offering additional compensation for three years of service. The typical requirements for this position include a minimum of one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, or a master's (or higher) degree or an LL.B. or J.D. from an accredited college or university. Other requirements include citizenship, primary U.S. residency for at least three of the last five years, and age restriction.
