    POSITION PURPOSE

    The Data Governance Office is critical to the success of our organization using data to drive decisions and strategy. The Senior Business Analyst for Data Governance at Prosperity Bank is a crucial role in ensuring that our bank's data assets are managed efficiently, securely, and in compliance with regulatory standards. The Senior Business Analyst holds a pivotal role within the Data Governance Office, focusing on the enhancement and transformation of data governance processes through strategic analysis, insightful problem solving, and innovative solution design.

    The Senior Business Analyst will be responsible for establishing, documenting, maintaining, and maturing Prosperity Bank's data governance framework, which encompasses policies, procedures, standards, and processes that effectively control data lifecycle management.

    This role requires effective communication skills and ability to understand business needs, interact with business users to document business and IT processes and existing data usage, and new data requirements.

    This position will report directly to the Data Governance Manager.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS

    • Create, document, and maintain data governance policies, playbook(s), processes, and procedures for guiding various data management processes, including the adoption of data security and privacy, data quality practices, and data dissemination activities
    • Engage with stakeholders across the organization to identify data quality needs, draft requirements, assist in the development of data quality checks, track, monitor, and report of the overall health of data in the organization
    • Perform impact analysis of regulatory, business, corrective action plans, and system changes on the Enterprise Data Governance program, respective data domains, and relevant data governance policies and procedures within the context of enterprise data
    • Assist with preparation of material for regular core team and key governance forums (e.g., Enterprise Data Governance Council, Data Governance Steering Committee, Data Governance Office) to review progress and initiatives with key constituents
    • Create, document, and maintain policies for data management, categorization, and usage
    • Enforce and ensure data policies are compliant with relevant regulations and industry best practices
    • Create data flow diagrams, process flow diagrams, and relationship diagrams between business entities, data objects and attributes
    • Identify and document business processes, subprocesses, relationships by partnering with external vendors, business partners, IT, and Infosec team
    • Document data collection processes, business applications, storage locations, and data standards, naming standards as per the data governance framework
    • Track and document data flows, as well as data lifecycle and data lineage information and help the development and documentation of data definitions, business glossaries and data catalogs
    • Capture business rules, data definitions, and functional aspects accurately and appropriately within data governance framework
    • Oversee the continuous monitoring and improvement of data quality
    • Coordinate with data stewards to document and help resolve data issues
    • Collaborate with data stewards to define data ownership, establish clear accountability, and promote data stewardship across the organization
    • Engage with business and IT to embed data governance practices into the business processes
    • Facilitate cross department communication to ensure a cohesive approach to data governance
    • Document, monitor, and report on compliance with data policies and standards
    • Work in collaboration with risk management team to help identify and mitigate documented risks associated with data
    • Support the implementation of new data governance technologies and document process change
    • Create artifacts to educate and train stakeholders on data governance principles and policies
    • Document, maintain and evolve the data governance framework to accommodate changes in technology, business practices, and regulatory requirements
    • Ensure the framework supports data privacy, data ethics and is in alignment with the bank's values
    • Contribute and support projects related to data governance, including data migration, systems integrations, and new data initiatives
    • Provide expert knowledge in troubleshooting and resolving data quality issues
    • Assist to establish and document key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure effectiveness of data quality initiatives
    • Document and deliver regular reports to leadership on health and status of the bank's data governance initiatives
    • Establish and follow standards and best practices that align with governance, data quality, and master data management initiatives
    • Partner with data governance specialists to engage with business SMEs, data stewards in creation and maintenance of business glossary for the respective subject area and alignment with the enterprise
    • Collaborate with business, functional areas, and IT teams to ensure the alignment of information with business process
    • Collaborate with business, functional, and IT teams to map current and target enterprise data view including documentation of source and destination of each step, and associated processes
    • Document data lineage across our business processes, identifying both value opportunities and potential data quality issues
    • Analyze, document, and report on any data-related problems or risks associated with the Bank's systems and data, present the findings and any potential solutions in a concise and organized manner to management
    • Support implementation and integration of data management governance tools
    • Help build a community of best practice for data usage within the organization to help mature overall data literacy and competency
    • Develop data training programs to ensure consistent use of organizational data and promote data awareness, literacy, and proficiency

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    This role has no supervisory responsibilities.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Education/Certification:
    A bachelor's degree in business, finance, information technology, or related field
    An MBA or equivalent professional qualification would be advantageous.
    Relevant certifications such as CBAP (Certified Business Analysis Professional) can distinguish the candidate further

    Required Knowledge:
    Familiarity with data management principles and practices in Data Management Body of Knowledge, 2nd Edition (DMBOK2) Familiarity with data management frameworks such as DCAM Knowledge of standards, and best practices prevalent in data governance, data management, data quality, and data privacy

    Experience Required:

    • Minimum 7 years of experience as a business analyst with a focus on data governance and data management practices
    • 5+ years of experience with data governance, master data management, and data quality processes and procedures and writing policies
    • 5+ years of experience with data warehousing, business intelligence, programming, or statistics experience
    • 5+ years of experience in a highly regulated and information-centric industry such as financial services
    • 3+ years of experience in banking and financial domain especially in deposits, loans will be a value add
    • Demonstrated experience of cross-functional collaboration, relationship-building, networking, influencing, prioritization, and project management skills
    • Familiarity with data governance and data management tools (Informatica, Collibra, Purview, Attacama)
    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making skills
    • Proficiency in data analytics and modeling tools, with the ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner to non-technical audiences
    • Excellent communication and people skills, capable of building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders at all levels
    • A keen understanding of banking regulations, compliance issues, and risk management principles to support Data Governance activities
    • Proven experience in project management, process design, and change management, with a focus on delivering results in a challenging environment
    • Proficiency in using SQL and experience with relational databases and data warehousing
