    Description

    Surgical Technologist

    We are seeking a skilled Surgical Technologist to work in our Operating Room department. You will provide safe and effective nursing care in the operating room and maintain an understanding and knowledge of multiple instruments for various services. In this role, you will also assist in direct patient care, surgical room turnover between cases, and collaborate with Registered Nurses in clinical decision-making. As the Surgical Technologist, you will be responsible for:

    • Gathering necessary supplies, equipment, and instruments before procedures
    • Setting up tables, instruments, and supplies for operations
    • Preparing and maintaining sterile fields for surgical procedures
    • Assisting in the maintenance and care of specimens
    • Decontaminating all equipment and supplies
    • Enhancing professional growth and development through education and in-services

    To excel in this role, you should possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent and have completed the Surgical Technician program. You must also have CPR/BLS, and Certification of Surgical Technologists. Heavy lifting is required, and you should be comfortable handling Hazardous Material with Personal Protective Equipment. Nonessential qualifications include fluency in English, Spanish, Keres, Tewa, Tiwa, Towa, Zuni, or Navajo and 1.5 years of directly related experience.

    Physical Conditions:

    • Heavy Work: Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects or people. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those of Medium Work.

    Working conditions:

    • Significant hazards include chemicals and biohazardous materials requiring Personal Protective Equipment
    • May be required or is required to perform on-call duties.
