    The Environmental Institute (EI) at the University of Virginia (UVA) seeks a dynamic and collaborative Project Manager to coordinate the community-engaged place-based research projects.

    The Project Manager will coordinate the communication and collaboration among EI's Climate Collaborative projects (50% time) and coordinate the research and operational activities of Virginia Eastern Shore Climate Equity project led by the EI Director (50% time).The Environmental Institute is the hub of environmental resilience and sustainability research at UVA.

    The institute supports interdisciplinary research and training at the intersection of environmental change and human well-being by connecting faculty, students, and citizens together to foster a more resilient and sustainable future.

    This position is a 3-year term-limited role, renewable dependent on funding and performance.

    This position will report to the Environmental Institute Director and will work closely with EI staff and personnel on the Climate Equity Project.


    Job responsibilities:


    Climate Collaborative Initiative (50% time)Work with EI Director and Leadership team to ensure alignment of Climate Collaborative projects with strategic goals of the initiative.

    Serve as initial point of contact for both potential applicants and funded personnel.
    Coordinate quarterly meetings with Climate Collaborative teams and EI leadership.
    Plan annual meeting for all Climate Collaborative projects and teams.

    Throughout the initiative, work with EI leadership and teams to share insight and develop guidelines for 'best practices' of placed-based community-engaged research.

    Coordinate with PIs annual report, and work with Finance Manager and Research/Education Program Manager on reporting of metrics.
    In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned by the EI Director.

    Climate Equity Project, Eastern Shore of Virginia (50% time) Coordinate research and operational activities of the NSF-funded Climate Equity Project to ensure efficient use of project resources, orderly progress toward project goals, and consistent internal and external documentation of project results.

    Serve as a liaison among Pls and project personnel, including coordination of meetings and internal communications.
    Participate in community engagement activities, assists community engagement team in coordination of activities.
    Assist with the preparation of annual reports.
    In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned by the EI Director.


    Required Qualifications:
    Master's degree in a relevant field, with preference for Environmental Sciences.
    Ability to build and foster professional relationships, and to work both independently and as part of a team.
    Excellent organizational and time management skills, with ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, determine priorities, and meet deadlines.
    Track record of taking the initiative and being flexible in a dynamic work environment.
    Thoughtful, transparent, and collaborative with a service leader mindset.

    PhD in environmental sciencesExperience in research project or program managementKnowledge of UVA personnel, project management, and administrationAnticipated Compensation : $65K - $75K annually commensurate with qualifications and experience.

    This is a full-time exempt level position with UVA benefits.
