Responsibilities
- Patrols the City within an assigned area in a radio dispatched automobile to secure life and property observe situations report suspicious or criminal activity hazardous conditions deter crime by providing high visibility.
- Responds to emergency calls for service disturbances thefts burglaries vehicle accidents domestic disputes suspicious activities public safety property resolve problems diffuse situations enforce laws ordinances take appropriate action provides information directions assistance public variety situations takes reports assists public complaints unusual situations develops maintains effective working relationships community specific targeted groups elderly school age youth speaks educates local business school civic social groups observes monitors controls routine unusual traffic situations stops warns drivers issues citations traffic control accident incident special events congested situations makes arrests apprehends restrains suspects serves warrants subpoenas individuals custody transports medical clearance detainment lockup facility booking longer term facility required secures crime scenes evidence interviews suspects victims witnesses collects preserves evidence complete investigations cooperates other law enforcement agencies investigative case development support oversees juveniles delinquents works cases involving unfit homes crimes committed against by juveniles assists City Attorney District Attorney staff preparing documenting developing cases gathering information testifies court required directs police support personnel volunteers office field sets speed trailer temporary emergency signage devices participates vehicle chases according departmental policy mutual aide other law enforcement agencies dispatched accordance departmental policy prepares reports logs records accurate files may assigned conducting special studies crime prevention traffic control Police Services issues performs similar duty directed competent authority.
