    We are seeking a visionary and dynamic Director of Platform Engineering to lead our proficient teams of engineers and architects. In this role, you will spearhead the design, development, and maintenance of our robust data center, network, store technology, and mobility platforms. Your strategic vision will drive our platform engineering efforts, ensuring alignment with company objectives and delivering unparalleled quality, reliability, and security. Moreover, you will oversee our platform engineering budget, optimizing resource allocation to achieve our $10M annual budgetary goals.

    Responsibilities


    • Lead, mentor, and cultivate a high-performing team of platform engineers and architects, responsible for data center, network, store technology, and mobility platforms.


    • Define and articulate a clear vision, strategy, and roadmap for platform engineering, in alignment with organizational goals and priorities.


    • Ensure the delivery of scalable, reliable, and secure platform solutions that exceed the expectations of both internal and external stakeholders.


    • Establish and enforce best practices, standards, and processes across all aspects of platform engineering, including architecture, design, development, testing, deployment, and monitoring.


    • Collaborate closely with senior leadership, product managers, and stakeholders to understand business requirements and deliver innovative platform engineering solutions.


    • Manage the platform engineering budget, resources, and vendor relationships to optimize efficiency and effectiveness.


    • Stay abreast of emerging trends, technologies, and innovations in platform engineering, evaluating and integrating new tools and methodologies as needed.

    Requirements


    • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.


    • Minimum of 10 years of experience in platform engineering, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership capacity.


    • Demonstrated track record of successfully leading large-scale, complex platform engineering projects with a focus on quality and reliability.


    • Expertise in data center, network, store technology, and mobility platforms, encompassing cloud, hybrid, and edge computing, network architecture, security, and mobile device management.


    • Exceptional communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to inspire and influence cross-functional teams.


    • Strong business acumen, financial management, and strategic planning abilities, with a keen focus on balancing short-term objectives with long-term goals.


    • Demonstrated proficiency in managing complex budgets and driving operational efficiencies.


    • Strong familiarity with a variety of platforms and technologies, including but not limited to:

    Cloud Computing: Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform

    Enterprise Collaboration: Office365, Active Directory

    Hypervisor: VMware ESXi, Nutanix AHV

    Networking: Cisco Nexus, Palo Alto firewalls, Prisma SD-WAN, Meraki MS/MR, F5 LTM/GTM

    Endpoint Management: VMware Workspace One, Microsoft InTune

    Content Delivery: Fastly, Cloudflare

    Database Services: Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server

    Data Protection: Cohesity, Rubrik

    Enterprise Monitoring: Solarwinds, Dynatrace

    Service Management: ServiceNow


    • Preferred experience in platform engineering tools, methodologies, and practices, including DevOps, CI/CD, automation, orchestration, monitoring, and testing.


    • Preferred experience in a retail environment, including Point of Sale systems, Supply Chain integration, Merchandising systems, and custom developed applications.

    WORKING CONDITIONS (TRAVEL, HOURS, ENVIRONMENT)

    · Occasional travel may be required including air and car travel

    · While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to a warehouse environment and moving vehicles. The noise level in the work environment is typically quiet to moderate.

    · Hybrid work model is preferred (Remote most of the time and available at work for meetings and design discussions)

    Physical/Sensory Requirements

    Sedentary Work – Ability to exert pounds of force occasionally, and/or negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.
