Summary
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program.
You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment.
Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.
Duties
The Medicine Service Mission is to lead satisfied staff dedicated to providing high quality patient centered care here at STVHCS, a great tertiary training and research Veteran's Hospital.
The Rheumatology Physician supports this mission through administrative dependability, direct patient care, and support of their Section's educational and research activities.
In addition to observance of Federal national and local regulatory, policy, and accreditation requirements governing this Health Care System, this position encompasses the following examples of responsibilities overseen by their Section Chief.
You are responsible for supporting the Medicine Service and the STVHSC by contributing clinically and administratively to most or all patient care, education and research missions.
You will require appropriate time mapping to ensure they have the time required to successfully fulfill the following duties.You will participate in staff meetings, hospital committees, and peer review process.
Demonstrate effective communication both down to staff and up to leadership, to include heads up (for acute patient bad outcomes) and issue briefs, acting as Section Chief when the Section Chief is on leave.
You will admit, perform history and physical examinations, work-up, diagnose, prepare treatment plans for adult patients, age 18 years to treat various conditions, illnesses or injuries seen in both general internal medicine, as well as expertise in those of the rheumatologic system.

Recruitment/Relocation: A Recruitment/Relocation Incentive may be authorized for a Highly Qualified Individual.
Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases
Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME)
Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA
Insurance:

Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory
CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification)
Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided
Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting
Work Schedule: Part-time; 50 hours per pay period
