    Department Overview

    The men and women of Electric Operations (EO) ensure the delivery of safe and reliable electric service to our customers. Electric Operations is responsible for every aspect of PG&E's electric distribution and transmission operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance and construction, asset management, business planning, restoration and emergency response. The department of Major Projects and Programs (MP&P) within EO manages many electric distribution and transmission projects from start to finish.

    Position Summary

    A Field Engineer contributes technical and engineering services to key office and field personnel on construction projects. This position will be in support of PG&E's General Construction department. As a Field Engineer Intern, you will be assisting PG&E Field Engineers with construction management tasks. Tasks could include ordering material, coordinating electrical outages, assisting with permitting and outside agencies, and project tracking and monitoring of construction activities both in cost and schedule.

    The Field Engineer position is fundamental to the construction of PG&E's electrical facilities, as such this position will provide great exposure and knowledge into the electric utility.

    PG&E is providing the hourly rate range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual hourly rate paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.

    The hourly rate for this position ranges from $23.85 to $35.11

    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Earning a Bachelor's in Civil Engineering, or related engineering field (students must be continuing education towards degree during and/or after the internship)
    • Must have a valid driver's license or obtain one at least 30 days prior to start date.

    • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
    • Takes initiative and can work independently with minimal direction
    • Experience in related construction field
