    Job Description

    Rate of Pay: $24.86

    The Pastry Chef I is responsible for preparing all pastry items while maintaining control charts of the food produced and ensuring a high degree of cleanliness in the cooking area.

    • The Pastry Chef I handles opening and closing checklists and the production of daily menu items.
    • Reading and following menus and recipes, as well as performing mathematical calculations when necessary, are essential.
    • Acting as a leader in their assigned outlet and working closely with the Pastry Chef on new menu items, tastings, VIP buffets, etc.

    Qualifications

    To excel in this role, the individual must be capable of performing all essential duties satisfactorily. The qualifications include:

    • Thorough understanding of baking math and recipe conversion.
    • Extensive knowledge of the bakery and the ability to train other kitchen staff.
    • Advanced skills in specific areas such as wedding cakes, viennoiserie, plated desserts, and chocolate/sugar work.
    • Comprehensive understanding of daily operations and the capacity to assist the Pastry Chef in the kitchen's absence.
    • Willingness to work each shift in the bakeshop, train new employees, comply with safety procedures, and act as a designated trainer for the department.
    • Flexibility with hours and schedules, a minimum of 5 years of pastry experience, and preferably a Culinary degree or certification.
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills in basic English language, along with essential reading and counting abilities.
