    Integrated Behavioral Health Provider-Family Medicine - Asheville, United States - Mountain Area Health Education Center

    JOB SUMMARY:
    Provide behavioral health services within an Integrated Care setting, for the patient population in a Primary Care/Family Medicine Clinic. Serve in a teaching/precepting role as a faculty member for residents in the Family Medicine Residency Program.


    SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

    CLINICAL

    • Provides individual, family and group psychotherapy for adults, adolescents and children, sometimes involving crisis intervention counseling.
    • Conducts initial evaluations/Comprehensive Clinical Assessments, utilizes clinical screening instruments as needed.
    • Incorporates internal and external collateral information into case conceptualization and treatment planning.
    • Triages referrals from Family Medicine providers to identify behavioral health services either on site at MAHEC or offsite to other service providers as needed.
    • Provides real time behavioral health consults for patients being seen by Family Medicine residents and faculty physicians in the MAHEC Family Health Center at Biltmore
    • Coordinates services with schools, crisis care facilities, community providers, hospital personnel, etc.
    • Assesses needs and provides case management for patients focusing on prevention, linkage with community services, and awareness of social determinants of health.
    • Coordinates care for patients who may have complex needs; serve as liaison with other agencies/resources.
    • Completes required documentation including intakes, progress notes and treatment plans, within the time period specified.
    • Participates in clinical and administrative meetings.
    • Assists with providing coverage to other MAHEC satellite practices or departments if needed.
    • Serves as needed on committees for the Department of Family Medicine or in relation to other relevant MAHEC initiatives.
    TEACHING / PRECEPTING


    • Provides teaching and didactic instruction to MAHEC Family Medicine residents and other MAHEC colleagues and learners as relevant to the primary care setting. Inter-professional collaboration and teaching may occur with other disciplines such as psychiatry, pharmacy, or other health care providers/learners/staff. Examples of didactic topics include reviews of various clinical presentations, diagnostic/assessment tools, treatment modalities, patient care interactions, provider wellness, and community resources.
    • Provides one on one teaching, regarding various clinical topics, for residents while residents are on the behavioral medicine rotation.
    • Provides in the moment education about behavioral topics and patient care issues that arise in the clinical setting.
    • Presents Grand Rounds approximately every 18 months.
    • Provides support for residents throughout their training to promote wellness.
    • Participates in various resident support activities, retreats, and professional development functions, occasionally occurring after standard business hours or on weekends.

    SPECIFIED SKILLS

    • COMPUTER
    • Knowledge and experience documenting patient care in an electronic health record
    • FOREIGN LANGUAGE
    • Spanish speaking skills preferred.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    • Light - Moderate energy level: Lift and carry lbs, Push/Pull lbs (empty bed, stretcher, etc.)

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Not Applicable.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
    Master's degree in Social Work or Clinical Counseling, or Doctoral degree in Psychology required. Minimum of 5 years post-graduation clinical experience.

    Integrated Care/Primary Care/Family Medicine experience preferred.


    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
    Active license in North Carolina as : Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor, or Doctoral level licensed Psychologist (Ph.
    D., Psy.
    D.) required.


    Work Environment:
    Duties performed via clinic space, or via telehealth from the clinic setting or remotely from the employee's home. Ratio of in clinic versus tele commuting may vary depending on clinic/patient/staffing needs. Sharing of office space may be necessary depending on clinic needs. Noise level in clinic is moderate, typical of a busy healthcare clinic; must be managed/controlled when working with patients (i.e. treatment rooms are designed to support confidentiality of patient-provider conversations).

    Employee must have ability to do some degree of telecommuting which requires having access to a quiet, confidential workspace in which to conduct telehealth therapy and evaluations.


    SCHEDULE:
    Regular attendance on-site is an essential function of this position.

    Typical business hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (or flexed to best meet the needs of the clients and/or the Division); 40 hours per workweek; weekend, holiday, or evening coverage is occasionally required.

    Work hours will need to be flexible in order to respond to special work assignments, or evening activities, as requested by the team leader.
