    Description

    W.D. Laramore is looking for a Mechanical Drafter to join our team in Thomasville, GA. As a Mechanical Drafter you will be responsible for creating design drawings by planning work, rendering views, recording dimensions, developing applications, preparing bills of materials, and updating databases.

    What You'll Do

    • Create/revise detail drawings - AutoCAD or Inventor/SolidWorks from mark ups, layouts, or verbal instruction.
    • Create layouts from concept to enable other designers to generate detail drawings.
    • Select raw material, calculate weight and volume.
    • Ensure mechanical fit of all components in each assembly.
    • Coordinate proper creation of item type, manufacturability, and bill of material.
    • Create/maintain and release data/drawings in Autodesk Vault and Encompix ERP system.
    • Estimate remaining times on projects.
    • Other duties as assigned by manager.
    Basic Qualifications
    • Understanding of computerized systems, AutoCAD, Inventor, or Solid Works.
    • Knowledge of math/algebra (i.e., areas of plane, volume of solids); mechanics, calculation of various moments, center of gravity, etc.
    • Knowledge of metal and non-ferrous materials and their properties.
    • Familiarity with manufacturing practices.
    • Knowledge of U.S. Customary system (inches) and SI system (Metric), various ANSI and ISO Engineering and drafting standards
    • Strong understanding of design concepts, practices, and procedures.
    • Analytical, problem-solving, planning, and organizational skills.
    • Professional communication skills, both written and verbal.
    Preferred Qualifications
    • Associates or Bachelors' Degree in Mechanical Technology or equivalent.
    • Minimum 1 year experience working as a Mechanical Designer.
    • Ability to learn and effectively utilize new design software programs.
    • Ability to work in a team environment with others including, but not limited to Project Managers, Engineers and Designers in a multi-discipline groups
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
