    What You Will Do

    The Theoretical Division is seeking strong undergraduate candidates who are interested in theoretical and computational astrophysics research. The selected candidate must currently have completed BS or BA programs in universities with good standing.The candidate will work with scientists in Theoretical Division on topics related to astrophysical transients. The candidate is expected to perform extensive numerical simulations using LANL's supercomputers, and investigate the physical processes associated with these systems. The candidate will also have opportunities to collaborate with colleagues in the Theoretical Division and across the Laboratory. The Theoretical Division is an organization that has multiple disciplines on a large range of scientific topics and contribute to LANL missions significantly.

    What You Need

    Minimum Job Requirements:
    • Education and experience in astrophysics.
    Education/Experience:

    In junior or senior year in undergraduate school from an accredited university in US with a program in engineering, mathematics, computer science, physics, or related field, with a cumulative GPA of at least a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.

    Desired Qualifications:
    • Experience with computational methods.
    Work Location : The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.

    Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.

    Internal Applicants: Regular appointment employees who have served the required period of continuous service in their current position are eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory.
