    Global Functions Technology (GFT) is a diverse organization comprised of more than 15,000 talented professionals with some of the brightest minds - all working collectively to realize Citi's Vision of growth and economic progress. As a group, we partner with the Finance, Risk, Compliance, and Human Resources teams to drive the delivery of innovative technology solutions using common data, data analysis, and platforms. Our technology operates in real-time environments, capturing and managing market, transaction, and accounting data, as well as the data from millions of customers daily. Our solutions cover all products and geographies in which Citi does business. We are the backbone for reporting across the bank, satisfying our regulatory obligations, enabling our businesses to be nimbler and helping to safeguard customer assets through highly effective controls.

    GFT is accountable for providing and delivering end-to-end design, application development and advocates infrastructure management to the Global Functions across Citi's lines of business and regions. As part of Citi's broad transformation strategy, GFT is presently undergoing a large-scale, multi-year Agile transformation throughout our 16k-person organization. Along with that transformation, we will need proven, sound, and solid software engineers, agile practitioners, and technical team managers to drive the success of our nascent agile teams.

    The Role

    We are looking for hands-on full-stack engineering team leads who are passionate about solving business problems through innovation and engineering practices. The team lead plays a meaningful role in crafting and maintaining the strategic partnership between business needs and technology delivery within the construct of an Agile team. The role is to own an Agile team's efforts to plan, design, develop, and launch efficient systems and solutions in support of our core organizational functions. In addition to managing members of an agile team, there is also an expectation to contribute to the codebase and deliver solutions against the sprint-level commitments.

    Responsibilities:

    • Code contributing leader of an Agile team, working to deliver sprint goals, as well as conduct personnel duties for team (e.g., performance evaluations, hiring, promotions and disciplinary actions).
    • Design, document, and develop world-class enterprise applications leveraging the latest technologies and design patterns.
    • Provide strategic influence and exercise control over team resources, budget management and planning, while monitoring end results.
    • Utilize in-depth knowledge of concepts and procedures within your own area and basic knowledge of other areas to resolve issues.
    • Ensure essential procedures are followed and contribute to defining standards.
    • Integrate in-depth knowledge of applications development with overall technology function to achieve established goals.
    • Provide evaluative judgement based on analysis of facts in complicated, unique, and dynamic situations including drawing from internal and external sources.
    • Influence and negotiate with senior leaders across functions, as well as communicate with external parties, as necessary.
    • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.
    Qualifications
    • 3-5 years' experience with agile and iterative software delivery.
    • 3-5 years' experience with software engineering best practices (unit testing, automation, design patterns, peer review, etc.).
    • 3-5 years architecture experience in building horizontally scalable, highly available, highly resilient, and low latency applications.
    • 3+ years' experience in managing Cloud infrastructure both on-premise and public cloud (i.e., OpenShift, AWS, etc.).
    • Proficiency with Cloud-native development and Container Orchestration tools (Serverless, Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, etc.).
    • Proficiency with API Management tools.
    • Proficiency with event-driven design and architecture (i.e., Kafka, Spark Flink, etc.).
    • Experience in technical leadership re-engineering monolithic applications into Microservices.
    • Experience with Microservices frameworks using Java, Python, or C#.
    • Experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD). pipelines, both on-premise and public cloud (i.e., Tekton, Harness, CircleCI, Cloudbees Jenkins, etc.).
    • Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools (i.e., Terraform, Cloudformation, etc.).
    • Experience in Security, Observability, and Monitoring (i.e., Grafana Prometheus, Splunk, ELK, CloudWatch, etc.).
    • Experience with Service Oriented and MicroServices architectures, including REST and GraphQL implementations.
    • Experience mentoring and providing technical leadership for teams of 5 or more developers.
    Preferred Qualifications
    • A passion for learning new technologies, and a desire for personal growth, through self-study, formal classes, or on-the-job training.
    • A passion for building high quality products which customers love.
    • Experience with database concepts and web-based technologies is a plus.
