Job Title: Senior Systems Administrator - Linux

Responsibilities of the Senior Systems Administrator - Linux

EDC Consulting is seeking a Senior Systems Administrator in Annapolis Junction, MD. This role encompasses support from the end user's desktop to the back-end servers, including domain controllers, Exchange servers, VMware environments, and network connectivity to the enterprise. The ideal candidate will be highly skilled in Linux environments and modern automation/configuration tools.

The Senior Systems Administrator - Linux will:

Manage and maintain Linux servers across various functions within the organization, ensuring efficient and secure operations.
Provide support for Windows servers including domain controllers, Exchange, and VMware infrastructures.
Handle full lifecycle management of Linux systems, including provisioning, configuration, management, and patching.
Implement and maintain network systems and connectivity to ensure seamless enterprise integration.
Utilize modern automation and configuration tools to streamline system administration tasks and improve system resilience.
Ensure system security through regular updates and adherence to best practices in network security.
Collaborate with IT team members to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues across network, server, and desktop environments.
Document system configurations, updates, and new system deployments.
Conduct regular system audits to ensure compliance with internal and external standards.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, System Administration, or a related field.
Proven experience as a Systems Administrator with a strong focus on Linux environments.
Required certification: Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA).
Expertise in managing Windows server environments, including Active Directory, Exchange, and VMware.
Strong understanding of network infrastructure and enterprise connectivity.
Proficiency in modern automation tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef for configuration and management.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks with attention to detail.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide training and support to end-users.
Certifications in VMware, Microsoft, or other relevant technologies are preferred.
Experience in scripting and automation to enhance system efficiency and monitoring.
