    Qualifications:


    MINIMUMEDUCATION REQUIRED:

    Currently enrolled inand progressing through an accredited nursing program andsuccessfully completed the first Med/Surgrotation.


    MINIMUM EXPERIENCEREQUIRED:

    None


    MINIMUMLICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BYLAW:

    None


    ADDITIONALQUALIFICATIONS:

    BLS certificationrequired
    Certification from a Nursing Assistant or PatientCare Technician program preferred
    Certification inphlebotomy preferred
    Certification in ECGpreferred


    ESSENTIALFUNCTIONS:


    • Provide direct patientcare.
    • Assists with data collection to includecollection of data regarding the patients physical, psychosocialand health history.
    • Assists patients with ADLactivities; functions independently with treatments, equipment andprocedures appropriate to the scope of pre-licensure clinicalpractice. Assists with mobility, feeding, oral care, bath and rangeof motion.
    • Performs treatments timely, to includeglucose checks, incentive spirometry, simple dressing changes,wound/ostomy care, and setting up electronic educationdevices/services.
    • Performs skills as delegated byRegistered Nurse to include
    :

    phlebotomy, ECG, intermittent urinarycatheterization, indwelling urinary catheter insertion andmanagement, peripheral IV insertion and removal.

    • Maintains and monitors skin integrity by turning patients every twohours, applies treatments and barriers as ordered and monitorspatient regularly.
    • Documents in the EMR in a timelymanner all vital signs and treatments provided.
    • Effectively communicate between all care partners. Ensures primarynurse is aware of any changes in patient condition orconcerns.
    • Assists with admission and discharge process.
    Meets patient in the room when admitted whenever possible to obtainvital signs and assist with patient intake.

    • Reinforceseducation provided by licensed staff.
    • Administersmedications under direct supervision of registered nursestaff.
    • Controls patient care cost by ensuring accuraterecording of patient charges.
