Responsible for work direction and qualityassurance. Performs nutrition assessments, evaluates patient needs, prepares awritten care plan; counsels patients according to needs; follows patient untilproblems are resolved; documents care and if a reimbursable service, completesnutrition portion of billing form; coordinates training for professional,paraprofessional and technical support staff. May perform other relatedadministrative tasks.
    Minimum QualificationsMust meet requirements for use of title Dietitian/Nutritionist as authorized by Codeof VA

    • Knowledge of nutritional programs, policies & procedures; currenttherapeutic diets, principles of nutrition, nutrition standards & applicationto public health
    • Skills in use of electronic health records; counseling techniques includingmotivational interviewing & participant centered approaches
    • Ability to supervise, schedule & evaluate personnel; assess clinic flow forefficiency & effectiveness; promote breastfeeding; perform comprehensivenutrition assessments; identify nutrition risks & develop individual careplans; communicate in a professional manner; work effectively as amember of a team with diverse participantsAdditional ConsiderationsPrevious WIC experience preferred.

    VDH requires all Health-Care Personnel (HCP) to provide documentation of immunization or evidence of immunity to the following:

    hepatitis B, measles, mumps, rubella, and varicella; a one-time dose of tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis (Tdap) vaccine regardless of the interval since the last dose of tetanus-diphtheria (Td) vaccine was administered (Td or Tdap boosters shall be received every 10 years); and the current year's seasonal influenza vaccination.

    This is a restricted position, which is solely funded by the United States Department of Agriculture for a 1-year period ending 09/30/24.

    The availability of funding is scheduled for review annually before the grant expiration date and periodically thereafter. Continued employment is contingent on the continued availability of funds.
