Position Overview:

• This role is involved in projects of large size in scope and of high complexity and requires advanced technical knowledge in database development methodologies, design and implementation.
• Leads other team members on projects.
• Position Reports to: Director, Shared Services or delegate

Responsibilities:

• Evaluates, designs, maintains database applications.
• Performs advanced design, implementation and maintenance of a single-product module or on lower level issues of multiple platforms.
• Organizes the data requirements and effects of inter-active system.
• Establishes and maintains database dictionaries.
• Establishes and maintains databases used for testing and production on various hardware platforms.
• Creates and maintains descriptors for data, users and resources.
• Develops, documents, and maintains procedural naming standards.
• Develops and documents naming conventions to ensure company uniformity.
• Maintains naming convention database and continually updates as new tables and projects are created.
• Collaborates with project managers, operations supervisors and other systems programmers on multi-faceted projects.
• Coordinates with other systems programmers regarding software requirements.
• Partners with programmers and other IT technical staff on special projects.
• Participates in project planning, project definition, requirements definition, analysis, design, testing and system documentation.
• Performs system debugging and problem resolution as needed. Assumes lead responsibilities for technical problem determination.

Qualifications:

• B/A, B/S or MA/MS in Computer Science or related subject. Minimum of eight (8) years of professional experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Able to apply an advanced knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures of database administration to the completion of difficult to complex assignments.
• Ability to design advanced databases.
• Able to exercise appreciable latitude to make decisions, usually requiring originality and ingenuity.
• Advanced knowledge of data administration including: DB2, Oracle, SQL Server.
• Advanced knowledge of operating systems and system architecture including: AIX, Linux and Windows.
• Advanced knowledge of automation tools and operating and database system scripting languages like: Bash, PowerShell, Python, PL/SQL etc.
• Demonstrates self-initiative, a sense of urgency and innovation/ creativity.
• Ability to lead, train and guide other project team database engineers.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Pay Rate: $ $85.00/hr.
