    The role of the Home Health Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) involves providing treatment, offering exercise guidance, and educating patients to enhance their well-being in line with the established care plan.

    Under the guidance of a Physical Therapist, you are responsible for adhering to state-specific laws governing physical therapy in home care, following the prescribed treatment plan, carrying out procedures within your expertise, and communicating any care plan modifications to the supervising Physical Therapist.

    Following the care plan, you will instruct and assist patients with evidence-based treatment within the Physical Therapy Assistant's scope and as per state regulations.

    Monitor and report patient progress and changes in condition to the supervising Physical Therapist, nurse supervisor, and/or physician. Collaborate with other healthcare team members as necessary.

    Provide guidance on therapy within the scope of a Physical Therapy Assistant to patients, families, caregivers, and other healthcare team members.

    Visit patients in the service area designated by the agency as well as other nearby LHC agencies when required. Complete progress notes for each visit as outlined in LHC policy.

    Participate in staff meetings and committees as requested by the agency. Adhere to LHC Therapy Standards of Practice when delivering services to patients.

    Rotate weekend services at your agency and nearby LHC agencies as needed. Fulfill any other duties assigned to you.

    License Requirements

    • Must hold current licensure, registration, or certification to practice physical therapy in the state
    • Current CPR certification
    • Valid driver's license, vehicle insurance, and access to reliable transportation or public options

    Additional Requirements by State

    • For LA and TX: One (1) year of experience as a licensed PTA
