- Assist the pharmacist in maintaining all operations of the pharmacy department
- Perform accurate and efficient data entry, billing, product dispensing and labeling, and release to patient functions
- Collect the correct monies when releasing prescriptions at will call as well as provide accurate change to patients
- Submit accurate and necessary supply and medication orders under the direction of the pharmacist
- Provide medication counseling when necessary and for all new prescriptions, or by patient request, regarding the effective use of medications, side effects, and awareness of drug interactions
- Follow all medication guidelines as well as policies and procedures for receiving, filling, dispensing, logging, maintaining loss prevention procedures, and avoiding diversion for all inventory including controlled medications
- Ensure that pharmacy policies as well as federal and state laws and regulations in all prescription related issues, including HIPAA, 340b, Standard Operating Procedure, Quality Assurance, and Continuous Quality Improvement, are followed
- Understand and maintain compliance with the 340b drug program
- Verify that presented prescriptions are current and valid for dispensing
- Complete a 340b eligibility check for every prescription fill to determine if the prescription meets eligibility criteria
- Demonstrate the ability to navigate the electronic health record (EHR) of patients to find all relevant information necessary for prescription processing
- Review prescriptions issued by physicians or other authorized prescribers to assure accuracy, appropriateness, and determine formulas and ingredients needed in preparation for a pharmacist's final verification
- Compounds medications, using standard formulas and processes such as weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients under the supervision of the pharmacist
- Ensure that all control drug policies and procedures as required by state, federal, and organizational guidelines are followed
- Accurately enter and maintain patient demographic information
- Performs troubleshooting functions for third-party discrepancies and other prescription filling issues
- Answer the telephone and assist patients at the front counter as well as through curbside pickup to maintain the workflow of the pharmacy
- Utilize the phone language translation service to communicate with patients that speak another language
- Responsible for maintaining a current and valid license as required by state, federal and pharmacy guidelines
- Maintain contact with providers, clinical support staff, and administrative staff to determine needs, resolve problems, improve processes, and promote effective drug therapy
- Stay current with new and changing drug therapies and uses
- Responsible for the proper maintenance of pharmacy drug inventories including accurate counts and clean shelving
- Responsible for the proper storage of all pharmacy inventory
- Maintains a clean, neat, and orderly pharmacy department at all times
- Actively engage patients and provide exemplary customer service as well as provide education about pharmacy services and programs offered in an effort to grow the pharmacy business and volume of prescriptions dispensed
- Maintains established procedures concerning quality assurance, security of controlled substances, and disposal of hazardous waste drugs
- Efficiently enters accurate data such as, but not limited to, patient demographics, prescription information, drug cost, prescription pricing, insurance information, and inventory
- Maintains awareness of third-party Rx billing systems and resolves third-party rejection problems promptly, and resubmits rejected claims for payment on a timely basis
- Resolves and reports prescription issues and errors to the pharmacist on duty immediately and adheres to regulations and company policy regarding continuous quality improvement
- Develop and maintain a good working relationship with physicians and other health care professionals in order to better assist the patients
- Delivers accurate reports and assignments on time
- Completes all assigned projects and tasks accurately and on time
- Must have reliable daily transportation and be able to travel to and staff the pharmacy at other health center locations when necessary as instructed
- Participate in events outside of normal course of business as assigned
- Ability to work Saturday hours and assigned hours based on additional availability, which may include evening and/or weekend hours
- Any other duties as assigned
- Currently enrolled in an ACPE accredited Doctor of Pharmacy program as a 4th year student
- Candidate must provide proof of current enrollment in course schedule pre-hire and during employment
- Position assignment will end at time of assignment of state licensure as a pharmacist
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a retail type community pharmacy setting
- Current Florida Pharmacist Intern License, active and in good standing, with no restrictions
- BLS CPR Certification required and maintained current
- Ability to work under pressure and at a fast pace
- Ability to multi-task

- Efficient and proficient in all computer applications under which work is assigned including email, Adobe, Microsoft Office programs, electronic medical records systems, pharmacy prescription processing software(s), and other programs as assigned

JOB SUMMARY
The Pharmacy Intern functions under the direct supervision of the pharmacist on duty to develop a knowledge base and competency of practice in a community pharmacy setting in addition to exposure to the management of daily business practices of a prescription department. They are responsible for the accurate preparation of prescriptions for verification by the pharmacist on duty, maintaining the workflow of the pharmacy including cashiering and the accurate release of prescriptions at will-call, and providing accurate patient counseling services as allowed. They must also perform all other activities allowed to be delegated and regulated by the Florida Board of Pharmacy.
