    Summary

    This position is located within the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Veterans Health Administration (VHA), VA Mid-Atlantic Health Care Network (VISN 6), and Hampton Veterans Affairs Medical Center (HVAMC).

    This position is aligned under the Primary Care Mental Health Integration Program (PCMHI) and Behavioral Health Laboratory (BHL) Hub, which is administratively aligned under the Mental Health and Behavioral Sciences Service Line.

    Duties

    This position is located within the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Veterans Health Administration (VHA), VA Mid-Atlantic Health Care Network (VISN 6), and Hampton Veterans Affairs Medical Center (HVAMC).

    This position is aligned under the Primary Care Mental Health Integration Program (PCMHI) and Behavioral Health Laboratory (BHL) Hub, which is administratively aligned under the Mental Health and Behavioral Sciences Service Line.

    Major duties and responsibilities for entry level include:

    Clinical Responsibilities:

    1.

    Provides immediate access to clinical assessment and appropriate collaborative care and treatment for those experiencing mental health symptoms or behavioral health issues.

    2.

    Provides individual and group interventions to support patients that are coping with health psychology presentations (., sleep, pain, adherence to medical regimen, adjustment to illness), psychosocial stressors, grief or phase of life difficulties (., discrimination, stress management, coping with loss, transition to civilian life), and mild-moderate mental health presentations.

    3.

    Functions successfully as a member of a multidisciplinary team of medical and mental health providers and provides consultation about mental health diagnoses and appropriate treatment plans to professionals representing a variety of disciplines.

    Academic/Teaching/Training:

    1. Develops programs together with other staff members for teaching and/or improving the PCP's core behavioral health skills.
    2.

    Provides consultation and training to Primary Care Service Line staff in the identification and management of common mental and behavioral health disorders that present in a primary care setting.

    3. Involved in Psychology Training Program and Training Committees as appropriate.
    4. May provide clinical supervision to Psychology trainees at all levels of training or unlicensed staff as needed.
    5.

    Assume responsibility for professional development by attending relevant training and regularly reviewing the literature to improve clinical competencies and meeting professional continuing education requirements to maintaining current competence and licensure.

    Program Evaluation/Research:

    1. Oversees the establishment of program monitors and outcome measurements within programs assigned using a data-driven quality assurance process.
    2.

    Is responsible for timely completion of all clinical charting and documentation required by the Medical Center or healthcare system, as appropriate.

    3.

    Plans and oversees the completion of process improvement and/or research programs, designed to provide information regarding program planning and relevant treatment approaches.

    4. Presents outcome data and research results at medical center, VA, regional or national scientific or professional meetings.
    5. Assists in preparation of RFP's and grant proposals, as assigned.

    Other Significant Responsibilities:
    1. Serves on Medical Center or Healthcare System, VISN, and/or National VA committees or task forces.
    2. Represents psychology on decision-making committees at the Medical Center or Healthcare System, as assigned.
    3. Actively participates in leadership roles on local, state, and national professional organizations.
    4. Represents the Medical Center or Healthcare System at professional/program community group/events and committees.

    Other duties related to the position at higher grades may be assigned.

    Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00AM - 4:30PM
