- Developing unit and lesson plans, focused on helping students develop 21st century skills and competencies in regards to Computer Science curriculum.
- Utilize varied instructional strategies that incorporate real world computer science application and promote student skill growth.
- Promote student achievement and progress through assessments (formative and summative), with provision of differentiated instruction to meet individual needs.
- Maintaining a positive and supportive classroom environment that promotes high end student learning, as well as deepened understanding and confidence in skill.
- Fostering open lines of communication with families to provide update on student progress and behavior.
- Collaborate with colleagues in the Science Department to develop and implement a cohesive STEM program.
- Participate in faculty supervision before/after school and during lunch periods, as scheduled and needed.
- Mastery of major Computer Science topics, including Coding and Programming (i.e. Python, Java), Systems design and engineering and other key topics.
- Ability to work as a co-moderator on our Robotics team.
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal communication skills; ability to communicate clearly and effectively in writing as well as in person.
- Strong background in the area of computer science and technology, with the ability to utilize effective strategies that grow student STEM skills.
- Experience in cross curricular instructional planning for the aim of fostering a more holistic learning experience for students.
- Skill in integrating technology effectively to enhance classroom instruction and student learning.
- Skills in effectively managing a high school classroom including the ability to create an environment conducive to learning and effectively resolving student behavior incidents.
- Familiarity with Salesian charism and educational practice, or a willingness to be further formed in Salesian educational theory and practice.
- At minimum, a Bachelor's degree is required; a Master's degree is preferred.
- Willingness to consent to a background check and participate in Archdiocesan and Salesian "Safeguarding" training.
- Prior experience working in a High School environment.
- Strong skill and background in Computer Science, particularly as they pertain to the field of science and everyday use.
- Prior knowledge and teaching experience in the area of Robotics instruction or mentoring.
- Willingness to connect and network with professionals to offer students a complete and enriching academic experience.
