- Develop pre-inspection plans.
- Research property information.
- Review construction plans, specifications, and warranties with contract documents.
- Versed in communicating with clients.
- Conduct field assessments which includes, riding swing stages, climbing scaffolding and ladders, and walking on sloped roofs.
- Keeping organized records including detailed field notes and photographs.
- Prepare written narrative and templated reports with photographs, tables, and exhibits.
- Conduct and prepare structural milestone reports, reserve studies, condition assessments, forensic engineering reports, and post-hurricane damage assessments.
- Prepare cost estimating.
- Assist in the coordination of subcontractors and testing firms.
- Review/Research and familiarity with building codes and construction standards.
- Minimum two-year degree in engineering, construction management, or related experience and certifications in building inspections.
- Engineer In Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE), preferred.
- Home Inspector License / Certification is a plus.
- Minimum 5 years of industry and housing building code experience required.
- Proficiency in MS office products, including Word and Excel, and Blue Beam is required.
- Experience in estimating is preferred.
- A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are a must.
- Job site and office time are split approximately 50/50.
- Good report writing skills with the ability to develop and commit to budgets, scopes, and deadlines.
- Must be outgoing and able to interact with staff, clients, and home/business owners.
- Ability to work independently with good judgment and critical thinking skills.
- You must possess excellent verbal and communication skills and technical writing abilities.
- Must have housing building code experience.

Essential Job Functions
Overtime - This position is salaried with exempt FLSA status. There will be periods where overtime will be required, which the employee will need to comply with to meet the demands of the position.
Travel Requirements - 40%, project locations will vary and will require some out of town travel (mostly day trips). Overnight travel may be required on occasion.
This is a remote position reporting to the office on occasion as needed.
