Job description
Game Product Managers at Riot perform internal and external analyses, make insightful recommendations, implement strategies, design solutions and ultimately develop products that address complex business issues to achieve company goals. We're a diverse group of consultants, business people, scientists, and at our core, a team of gamers. We are united by our desire to remain player-focused while maximizing our business outcomes. We support our recommendations with a myriad of sources to ensure we're informed by data.
This role is part of the VALORANT Core Game team. Core Game is responsible for developing gameplay features and content for VALORANT, including but not limited to spaces such as agents, maps, weapons, live balance, and features like game modes or in-game UI.
As a Game Product Manager II on the VALORANT Core Game team, you will support the development of gameplay features and content for VALORANT. You will inform the vision of both team and project-level roadmaps by evaluating and prioritizing product opportunities. You will work closely with feature teams throughout the development process to ensure products are tracking towards clear goals. You will design experiments and conduct data analysis to monitor product performance. Finally, you'll be expected to drive cross-discipline collaboration; managing relationships as well as your time are key portions of your craft.
Responsibilities:
- Work collaboratively with Insights, Production, Engineering, Design and Art teams to develop products that improve VALORANT's gameplay ecosystem
- Utilize game knowledge to anticipate and serve player needs
- Analyze player data and product results to find actionable business insights
- Help feature teams prioritize their efforts - accounting for product impact, delivery timelines, and opportunity costs
- Communicate strategic recommendations and product outcomes to business leaders and decision-makers
Required Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in video game production, product management, analytics, consulting, or business strategy for consumer-facing products
- 2+ years of experience shipping content or features on a live service video game or SaaS technology product
- Experience using data to inform decision making on competitive, multiplayer games
- Focus on data-informed decision-making; that is, the ability to solve problems effectively even with incomplete information or the absence of data
- Ability to break down complex problems and problem spaces using various business or product frameworks and crafting optimal solutions for our players and our business
- Self-motivated, and has the desire to work with people to navigate through ambiguity
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience leading game/technology feature development from 0 to 1
- Experience working with game design, be it as a designer or as a close collaborator
- Experience playing competitive multiplayer games, especially FPS or VALORANT specifically
- MBA or advanced degrees in Economics, Finance, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Management Information Systems, a related discipline, or comparable work experiences (meaningful work experience = 3+ years in relevant space)
For this role, you'll find success through craft expertise and a collaborative spirit that prioritizes the delight of players. We will look at your past studies and experience, but for this role, we also look for dedicated people with a personal relationship with games. If you embody player empathy and care about players' experiences, this is the role for you
Our Perks:
Riot focuses on work/life balance, shown by our open paid time off policy and other perks such as flexible work schedules. We offer medical, dental, and life insurance, parental leave for you, your spouse/domestic partner, and children, and a 401k with company match. Check out our benefits pages for more information.
At Riot Games, we put players first. That mission drives every decision in our quest to create games and experiences that make it better to be a player. Whether you're working directly on a new player-facing experience or you're supporting the company as a whole, everyone at Riot is part of our mission. And just like in our games, we're better when we work together. Our goal is to create collaborative teams where you are empowered to bring your unique perspective everyday. If that sounds like the kind of place you want to work, we're looking forward to your application.
