    Description

    DEFINITION:


    Under Administrative direction, plans, organizes, coordinates and directs assigned professional medical services activity of GRAND Mental Health under the supervision of the Director of Integrated Health Services Director.


    JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Responsible and immediately supervised by the Integrated Health Services Director.

    This position is responsible and held accountable for the following duties under the supervision of the

    Integrated Health Services Director:

    • To work under the licensure of the Occupational Therapist
    • To plan and implement specific treatment programs for individual patients according to the principles and practices of occupational therapy in the system.
    • To maintain current clinical competency by continued education in psychiatry.
    • Maintains appropriate licensure requirements.
    • Assist the Occupational Therapist in evaluation and assessment of clients varying treatment plans within the scope of the code of ethics and the law.
    • Initiate and perform the screening process and collects information for the Occupational Therapists review, as delegated and as appropriate
    • Demonstrating competency in performing a variety of treatment skills such as therapeutic exercise, modalities, ADL's, functional training, and procuring and instructing clients in equipment use per Occupational Therapist's recommendations
    • Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job requirement.
    • Employee must be willing and able to perform all job-related travel normally associated with this position.
    • Performs other reasonably related duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor or other management as requested.
    • Participates in staff meetings.
    • Must meet "satisfactory" expectations at any scheduled job performance evaluation.
    • Quality of work will be evaluated through training, skill, or special purpose. Must be competent and adequate.
    Must perform the specific job duties as listed above to meet position expectations.


    In addition, must possess skill in working cooperatively and effectively with clients, staff, management and other professional groups; in exercising mature judgement in dealing with people; in presenting ideas clearly and accurately; in reading and comprehending the English language; and in communicating effectively, both orally and in writing.


    Qualifications

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
    Graduation from an approved Occupational Therapy Assistant Program and possess valid Oklahoma licensure as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant. Have at least two (2) years experience in treating patients with psychiatric disorders.

    Oklahoma Board of Medical Licensure for Occupational Therapist Assistant (OTA); NBCOT for initial national accrediting certification board and exam upon graduating from school and then renewal every 3 years to use the trade mark credentials COTA

    An expectation of core competencies in relation to individuals with co-occurring disorders.


    KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
    Have a broad knowledge of psychopharmacology.

    Be able to perform psychiatric evaluations and mental health status examinations.

    Be able to assess patient's physical conditions and make appropriate referrals for medical treatment.


    Have a working knowledge of disorders as outlined in DSM-IV (and subsequent additions/revisions) and the diagnosing and treating of such.

    Have a general knowledge of the community mental health system and awareness of local referral sources.
