Job Description
Notre Dame Global (ND Global), formerly Notre Dame International, seeks a dynamic and self-motivated writer and content strategist to join its communications team.
ND Global is a division of the University of Notre Dame responsible for furthering the University's global strategy through Study Abroad, Global Engagement Programs, and International Student and Scholar Affairs.
ND Global's 12 global sites, located in ten countries, provide intellectual hubs for international partnerships, faculty research, and student programs.
ND Global also supports students, faculty, and staff in providing international travel safety training and resources.POSITION
SUMMARY
STATEMENT
As a member of ND Global's communications team and in collaboration with colleagues around the world, the successful candidate will:
Write and develop stories, press releases, social media copy, and promotional communications verbiage for a variety of ND Global channels and help manage the editorial calendar and social media publishing schedule for the division.
Develop written content for ND Global's 16 websites. This includes creating and publishing event information, publishing news stories, and updating content on websites as needed.Guide and assist with presentations and other written content for ND Global colleagues as requested.
Help manage ND Global's email marketing program (Emma) by developing newsletter verbiage, assisting with newsletter distribution, and managing subscriber lists and other details as necessary.
Fulfill other communication duties as needs arise.Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's Degree (4 years)
Experience:
3-5 years of experience working in communications, public relations, marketing, or other related fields
Degree Required:
Formal education related to communications
Skills required:
Storyteller – Highly proficient writing, editing, and storytelling skills; ability to effectively communicate in any format; and influence and persuade using a variety of methods.
Strategist – Develop and execute a vision for telling a story or building a larger theme to strengthen a brand, market a service, or nurture a relationship.
Collaborator – Work well within a diverse team factoring in a variety of cultural perspectives to arrive at the best outcome for specific target audiences.
Communicator – Envision and utilize innovative methods to translate complex ideas into accessible, understandable content. Employ social media, web, and other relevant communication channels to meet key audiences where most effective.Provide feedback regarding content on ND Global websites that needs to be updated or enhanced, and will also have a finger on the pulse of happenings across ND Global's worldwide network that may be good to highlight through public-facing communications efforts.
Strong planning and organizational skills, including a keen attention to detail and the ability to juggle multiple projects and deadlines.
Preferred QualificationsExperience with minimal website editing, particularly using Notre Dame's content management system
Experience in higher education
Proficiency in a foreign language
International exposure or experience
