    Northern Star (Pogo) LLC has a challenging and rewarding opportunity for a Summer 2024 Exploration Geology Intern at our world-class Pogo operation in Alaska on a rotational camp schedule.

    What's the role?

    The Exploration Mine Geology Intern reports to the Exploration Superintendents and the primary role includes assisting with drilling operations, drill core processing and field activities. This includes other tasks and projects under guidelines and procedures set out by the Exploration Superintendents, within the Exploration Department.

    What are we looking for?

    You'll be a highly motivated individual who will display behaviour consistent to our Northern Star Values of Safety, Teamwork, Accountability, Respect and Results (STARR), looking to work with the business for the long term and be an integral part in its future growth and development.

    Under the supervision of a Senior Geologist, you'll be completing geological logs of drilled core, assisting in field mapping and sample acquisition on Discovery properties, assisting with data interpretation, conducting inspections of drill sites and any project work that is assigned.

    • Progressing towards an advance degree from a recognized program
    • Extensive Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with other Microsoft programs
    • Ability to work in a team environment and adapt to changing priorities
    • Excellent data analysis skills
    • Positive attitude and commitment to the team's success
    • Display a clear commitment to safety, health and responsible environmental management
    • Maintain a high standard of housekeeping in all work areas.
    • Current Driver's License

    The Details:

    Our Summer Intern program aims to develop the skills and knowledge you have obtained via your studies in a practical, hands-on program. We will look to offer relevant and valuable work experience with networking opportunities with our current workforce and other students in our programs. Interns will start in May and work a 2 weeks on, 1 week off roster throughout the summer.

    Extreme conditions, including but not limited to extreme and changing weather conditions, dust, mud, varying levels of noise, varying degrees of light and dark, in and around artificial light and in a confined work area.

    Employees are required to stay on site at the company provided camp during the work rotation. Camp facilities provide dining service, games room, exercise & weight room, sauna, and accommodation rooms. Dormitory rooms have a land line phone, great Wi-Fi & cable TV. Cell service is available through Wi-Fi. The Company provides a bus service to and from Fairbanks, Delta Junction and Tok, Alaska.
