    Pay Range Information
    Chapman University is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this position. This range takes into account a variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. Salary offers are determined based on the final candidate's qualifications and experience, as well as internal equity and other internal factors. The anticipated pay range is not a promise of a particular wage.

    Position Summary Information



    Job Description Summary
    Under the direction of the Director of Total Rewards, the Compensation Coordinator provides administrative support for the Compensation and Classification team. The incumbent will perform a variety of administrative functions in support of the Compensation team to include, but not limited to: the review and processing classification requests, daily/weekly ad-hoc reports, and responds to ICA requests. May participate with other Compensation Analysts in development of training, special projects, and compensation programs. Provides front-line point of contact support to the managers and supervisors for all matters related to compensation and classification.

    Responsibilities
    Perform a variety of technical and routine administrative coordination for the following:
    • Assist with gathering compensation related information to assist in reclassifications, promotions and hoc compensation requests, research, analysis.
    • Supports the research, design, and planning of an updated university-wide compensation program.
    • Drafts, handles, and receives letters and documents as needed for compensation related actions. Audits and update forms and letters as needed. Assists in managing the distribution, collection, and review of the university annual merit cycle letters.
    • Assists with program information, training, and workshops related to classification and compensation policies and procedures; ensure compliance and streamlined processing; provides guidance and support to managers and employees with questions and/or concerns regarding HR compliance policies, procedures, and processes.
    • Assist with auditing jobs for content and prepares or edit job descriptions, as needed, reviewing job responsibilities, activities, duties, and requirements in accordance with FLSA, wage order, and other relevant local, state and federal laws, regulations and statutes.
    • Researches and responds to Independent Consultant/Contractor Agreement requests
    • Maintains currency of knowledge and skills related to the duties and responsibilities;


    Required Qualifications
    • Undergraduate degree in a related area and/or equivalent current professional experience/training; over three (3) years of full-time experience working in a professional office setting;
    • Comprehensive knowledge of the compensation functions as well as general knowledge of other areas of human resources.
    • Interpersonal verbal communication and written skills to convey technical concepts, handle sensitive and confidential information, sharing instructions, and facilitating discussions to be service and solution oriented with campus employees;
    • Proven experience with data gathering, records and files maintenance, and preparing of administrative or technical reports;
    • Be customer service driven. Must possess professional customer service skills, with experience in responding to requests in a timely manner;
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to make presentations to large groups of employment
    • Oral language, grammar, and writing skills to prepare professional correspondence;
    • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
    • Demonstrated experience working as part of a team on various projects. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with client groups and other areas of human resources and complete multiple assignments on time.
    • Demonstrated skill to develop presentations and/or conduct training for staff, supervisors, and managers.
    • Experience working with HR software. Demonstrated skill to work with a variety of computer software including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), database management, HRIS systems, electronic mail, etc.
    • Proven experience and high level of skill in the creation and use of spreadsheets. Familiar with DocuSign (in preparation, acting on, and managing);
    • Proven ability to perform math computations to compute sums, averages, ratios, products, and quotients;
    • Skill to work in a fast-paced, high volume and frequently changing environment.


    Desired Qualifications
    • Previous compensation work experience in a research setting and/or R2 designated university.
    • Working knowledge of university policies and procedures as well as Collective Bargaining Agreements.
    • Knowledge of wage and hour laws, and other laws and regulations relating to compensation, employment, collective bargaining, EEO/AA and FLSA.
