    \tThe Environmental Health & Safety Intern will help oversee multiple projects/facilities within the plant for environmental compliance and sustainability. The chosen candidate must have good time management skills and the ability to prioritize project needs for an efficient operations schedule.\r
    \r
    \tThe Environmental Health & Safety Intern will provide support and guidance to sustainability projects, environmental mapping, and project development team to aid in the company's goal. The Intern will also assist project or facility team members in developing the content of the Environmental Sustainability Plan and exploring ways to improve project or facility sustainability metrics. The Environmental Sustainability Coordinator will assist in implementing and achieving the Corporate Environmental Sustainability Goals.\r

    \tThe Environmental Health & Safety Intern will report to the EHS Specialist regarding project-specific needs with support and guidance from the Corporate Environmental Sustainability Manager. Hours are Monday through Friday for a fixed 2-3 month term.\r

    \tJob Responsibilities\r
    \r
    \t\r
    \t\t

    Performs project or facility environmental inspections or trains project team members to perform:
    \r
    \t\r
    \t\tStormwater/construction stormwater/SWPPP\r
    \t\r
    \t\tWaste Management tracking and identifying opportunities to improve the waste stream and recycling.\r
    \t\r
    \t\tAir Emissions/Operations tracking to monitor plant emissions for potential permitting changes.\r
    \t\r
    \t\tHazardous Waste monitoring and identifying opportunities for improving environmental and financial operations within operations.\r
    \t\r
    \t\tManages and supports the project team in the development of the Environmental Sustainability Plan\r
    \t\r
    \t\tAdministers training to project teams on the Environmental Sustainability Plan and Environmental Permit requirements\r
    \t\r
    \t\tCompletes or reviews environmental reports for project(s)\r
    \t\r
    \t\tReviews project scope/activity for environmental permit compliance requirements and communicate those requirements to project management\r
    \t\r
    \t\tUnderstands and helps develop project definitions, materials, processes, and quotes for future projects\r
    \t\r
    \t\tEnsures quality documentation being completed and filed\r
    \t\r
    \t\tSupports Project Engineer with the development of work packages that include environmental best practices\r
    \t\r
    \t\tParticipates in the project planning meetings and client meetings as needed\r
    \t\r
    \t\tParticipates in providing feedback to estimating staff and "lessons learned" sessions\r
    \t\r
    \t\tMaintains relationships with environmental sustainability advocates and groups to improve community outreach\r

    \tQualifications\r
    \r
    \t\r
    \t\tAssociate's Degree (or equivalent school credits) in environmental health, environmental engineering, environmental studies, or related field. Combined education and experience will be considered to meet this qualification\r
    \t\r
    \t\tStrong and proven knowledge of federal water, air, and waste environmental regulations\r
    \t\r
    \t\tAbility to competently develop multiple projects in a defined area for environmental sustainability\r
    \t\r
    \t\tAbility to quickly obtain state and local knowledge of environmental regulations related to various construction activities/projects\r
    \t\r
    \t\tAbility to educate team members, including project management on appropriate environmental regulations, sustainability and best practices\r
    \t\r
    \t\tFamiliarity with using computers and standard software\r
    \t\r
    \t\tAbility to work within a team environment collaborating and presenting information\r
    \r
    \r
    \t \r
    \r
    \tCritical Competencies\r

    \t\tExcellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to develop and facilitate presentations that are tailored to the audience.\r

    \t\tIntermediate level proficiency with computers\r

    \t\tEducation and Experience Requirements\r

    \t\tPursuing a Bachelor's degree is required, preferably with a concentration in Engineering.\r

    \tWork Environment\r
    \r
    \tMajority of time is spent in a manufacturing production environment where personal protective safety equipment must be worn, and proper safety precautions must be observed.\r
    \r

    \r

    Physical Demands:
    \r

    \r
    \tMust be able to work in a typical manufacturing facility and travel domestically to other facilities which could entail walking, climbing, and moving around working equipment. Appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be required to be worn during shift, when in production and warehouse environment.\r
