    Description

    Desired Skills and Experience

    Database support

    Manage multiple production, development, test and remote disaster recovery DB environments on multiple platforms in a 24x7 environment to meet corporate service level agreements for system availability, response time, data integrity, and system recoverability.

    Monitor system performance and resource utilization and pro-actively address issues.

    Solve complex problems in time sensitive situations along with providing regular hours and after hours support of the systems and other members of IT.

    Support multiple weekly software releases. Execute database scripts as part of software release process.

    Diagnose and resolve critical production issues with the highest level of accuracy, accountability and reliability.

    Perform DB backup and restore.

    Install and maintain supported releases of DB products and related tools.

    Database engineering

    Design, implement, and maintain database schemas to meet business requirements in conjunction with other IT staff. Provide guidance on overall DB direction.

    Design and manage High Availability Environment. Provide recommendations related to insuring a stable and efficient environment.

    Provide recommendations on development procedures, standards control and updates.

    Support development staff in order to effectively utilize system resources.

    Other

    Maintain the highest degree of confidentiality regarding customer data.

    Work with vendors to manage support SLAs.

    Ensure continuous professional development.

    Other duties as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Education

    Bachelor's degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, or related Technology field

    Experience/Training

    Minimum five years IBM Db2 database administration

    Minimum three years of AWS RDS Postgres experience

    Knowledge of IBM Data Studio and HADR

    Experience in root cause analysis, remediation, and problem resolution for complex systems

    Understanding of and experience with compliance related work

    Experience maintaining disaster recovery environment and restoring databases

    AWS Associate, Professional or DB Specialty certification preferred

    Professional Certification/License

    Skills and Abilities

    Self-driven, highly organized, customer focused

    Knowledge of standards and best practices for database technologies

    Good communication skills

    Strong knowledge of command line and GUI administrative tools

    Strong shell scripting skills and command of git

    Working knowledge in database systems architecture, including networking, security, scaling, and fault-tolerance

    Good knowledge of database internals such as locking, wait events, consistency, logging, recovery

    Proficiency tuning databases for performance, availability and scalability

    Willingness to document, enhance process-oriented approach

    Working knowledge of all phases of the software development life cycle, from initial requirements through operational support

    Understanding of AWS Shared Responsibility model, familiarity with IAM, EC2, containers, S3, CLI

    Knowledge of AWS Aurora, including Aurora Serverless
