The Merchandise Planner is essential in developing and executing strategic merchandise plans for the Japan region. This role focuses on optimizing product assortment and delivery schedules to achieve sales targets. Sales forecasting and inventory level management are key duties of the Merchandise Planner.

Create and maintain sales forecasts informed by key business inputs including prior sales, inventory levels, product assortment, store location, pricing, and promotions.

Work with MD team to develop Open-to-Buy (OTB) budgets for all categories based on prior sales and strategic potential.

Work with Retail team to ensure merchandise sales targets align with commercial targets.

Allocation planning at store level to ensure targets align with inventory levels of all categories.

Evaluate trends, focusing on analyzing Sell-Through at SKU level to inform inventory levels, reshuffles, and reorders.

Collaborate with the Italian planning team for demand and supply cohesion and make store-level allocation decisions weekly.

Leverage and build relationships with cross-functional teams, including Digital Media, Marketing, and Operations, to enhance business strategies and execution.

Work with Italian team on end of season returns, considering inventory needed for Japan outlet and family sales.

Manage inventory levels at Outlet to achieve sales targets.

Conduct occasional store visits within Japan for firsthand feedback, and attend buying sessions in Italy.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree

in Business, Finance, Economics, Fashion Merchandising, or related field.

Proven experience

in merchandise planning, financial planning, or a similar role in the retail industry.

Strong analytical skills

and proficiency in retail math.

Familiarity

with inventory management systems and planning software.

Complete proficiency

in Microsoft office suite (Excel and PowerPoint).

Excellent communication

and collaboration skills, capable of working effectively with cross-functional teams.

Ability

to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changes.

Command

of Japanese and English.
