    Reports to:
    Senior Engineer – Electrical, Lead Engineer – Electrical, or Senior Project Engineer

    Education Requirements:
    Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering, or related degree from an ABET accredited college. Candidate with an emphasis on construction and electrical engineering is preferred.

    At minimum, the candidate will hold an Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certificate, or able to obtain an EIT certification within 6 months of hire preferred.


    Experience:


    Previous years of progressive engineering or construction related experience in a related industry (i.e., heavy civil, industrial, utilities, power generation) preferred.


    Position Summary:
    Provides engineering project design and support for renewable energy projects (wind, solar, battery storage, etc.).

    Works with the Senior and Lead Project Engineers to manage 3rd party project engineering firms and coordinate with Blattner Internal Engineering and other stakeholders.

    Assists with the design, development, and testing of electrical components and/or systems and participates in the installation process of project designs for safety and efficiency.

    Essential Job Functions

    Assists the Senior and Lead Project Engineers to support Blattner Internal Engineering and other stakeholders with the project design through project completion.

    Aligns construction teams to ensure they have the necessary design information, quantities, and specifications to build the projects.
    Performs equipment/material takeoffs and drawing/study/specification reviews and provides to the Senior and Lead Project Engineers.

    Participates in design reviews, ensures construction activities are following project drawings and specifications, and validates red-line markups are complete and accurate.

    Supports the project design by ensuring the design meets the contractual requirements from Client, Company, and Industry Codes and Standards.

    Works with the Senior and Lead Engineers – Electrical to develop preliminary designs, performs takeoffs, reviews Owner provided RFP (request for proposal) documentation/specifications, reviews proposals from 3rd party engineering firms, identifies engineering risks/opportunities, and substantiates engineering within proposals for the Estimators to bid.

    Coordinates directly with the Estimators, CAD Designers, and Supply Chain, utilizing the Value Driver Map and guided by the Senior and Lead Engineers – Electrical to increase the quality of estimates and competitiveness of proposals.

    Supports the Senior and Lead Engineers – Electrical for the accuracy and detail of engineering within proposals and enhancing the clarification of assumptions/exceptions showing contract and specification compliance.

    Designs include, but are not limited to energy storage systems, underground collection systems, substations, SCADA/communication systems, transmission lines, and solar/PV arrays.

    Creates designs that satisfy the design life of the power plant by establishing compliance with local and state codes and company best practices.

    Ensures takeoffs are complete and accurate for cost estimates and material procurement.
    Creates designs that provide the most economical means to satisfy the design life of the power plant.

    Collaborates across company departments, with outside vendors, suppliers, and technical firms to explore innovative ideas, methods, materials, equipment, software, and technologies that save cost, increase efficiencies, promote safety, and provide strategic benefits.

    Establishes safe engineering designs that compliment company, state, and federal safety regulations. Assures projects are designed in compliance with all applicable safety standards including NESC, NEC, NPFA, OSHA, and others.

    Seeks opportunities to add value to projects. Performs economic analysis and value engineering to determine cost effective solutions and prepare written recommendations. Communicates value engineering for incorporation into future designs.
    Recognize how changes to design impact cost. Shares impacts with supervisor and associated departments/teams.
    Collaborates with civil and structural engineering as needed.
    Performs additional assignments per supervisor's direction.
    Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
    Must have a valid driver's license and an acceptable motor vehicle driving record (MVR).
    Must be an efficient problem solver by applying factual evidence and sustainable solutions that are safe, transparent, and documentable.
    Effective communication skills (oral, written, listening, presentation) to effectively work with owners, vendors, 3rd party engineers, internal engineers, etc.
    Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
    Travel for procurement and project-based purposes (nationwide). Position is estimated to require travel 5-25% of the time.
