Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Data Scientist with deep expertise in Large Language Models (LLMs) and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience applying AI solutions within the utility, energy, oil & gas, or industrial sectors.This role will lead the design, development, and deployment of intelligent AI systems that convert unstructured operational data — including technical manuals, maintenance logs, SCADA alerts, and field reports — into actionable operational insights.
Key ResponsibilitiesRAG Pipeline Development
Design, build, and optimize Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures
Implement semantic search and vector-based retrieval mechanisms
Improve contextual grounding and hallucination mitigation in LLM outputs
AI Model Development
Fine-tune and evaluate LLMs (e.g., GPT-4, Llama 3, open-source models)
Optimize prompt engineering strategies
Conduct model evaluation, benchmarking, and performance tuning
Knowledge & Data Integration
Develop robust Python-based pipelines for processing structured and unstructured data
Integrate vector databases such as Pinecone, Milvus, or Weaviate
Implement embedding strategies for technical and operational documentation
Operational Intelligence
Apply AI solutions to utility datasets (asset logs, outage reports, SCADA alerts, maintenance records)
Translate complex operational data into decision-support tools
Build AI-powered troubleshooting and field support assistants
Deployment & Scaling
Collaborate with engineering teams to deploy models in Azure or AWS cloud environments
Implement scalable, production-grade ML systems
Monitor model performance and ensure reliability
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with field operations, engineering, and business stakeholders
Gather requirements and translate business needs into AI solutions
Communicate technical findings to non-technical audiences
Required Qualifications
Experience
15+ years of experience in Data Science / Machine Learning
At least 1+ year of hands-on experience with LLMs and Generative AI systems
Proven experience within utility, energy, oil & gas, or heavy industrial environments
Technical Skills
Advanced Python proficiency (PyTorch, TensorFlow)
Experience with LangChain, LlamaIndex
Strong SQL skills
Hands-on experience building and deploying RAG systems
Experience with vector embeddings and semantic search
Domain Expertise
Understanding of utility operations, asset management, grid systems, SCADA, or industrial data workflows
Education
Master's or Ph.
D. in Computer Science, Mathematics, Data Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative discipline
