    To continue our standard of excellence, Piedmont is seeking a motivated, reliable professional to join our team as a Buyer I in our Purchasing Department.

    The primary responsibility of the position is sourcing and purchasing materials, supplies, components, and equipment. The successful candidate will be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and be able to handle operational issues effectively. This position will report to the Purchasing Supervisor.

    Essential DutiesPurchase materials and components to support scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and other department requirementsSource materials from safe and reputable suppliersExecutes purchase orders and purchase requests timely and accuratelyRequests price and availability quotes from suppliers to determine best pricing and availability of materials and componentsFollow-up on purchase orders to ensure timely delivery within stated lead timesExpedites and tracks all open purchase orders as needed to support inventory and operational requirementsPrepares and maintains detailed reports, records, and filesBuild relationships with internal departments and outside suppliers while assisting with purchase requests and discrepanciesReviews material receiving deficiencies and arrange for returns, replacements, or creditAfterhours Aircraft on Ground (AOG) call duty rotationJob Qualifications and CompetenciesProficiency in Microsoft Office SuiteExcellent verbal and written communication skillsAbility to perform detailed work with accuracy, confidentiality, and promptnessDriven, results-oriented, problem solving, multi-taskingAbility to handle operational issues effectively, understanding escalation and crisis managementPreferred QualificationsTwo (2) years of prior purchasing and sourcing experienceKnowledge of Merlin Procurement System or an inventory control / procurement systemWork EnvironmentStandard office environment, use of telephones, computers, and other office equipmentSome travel may be requiredPhysical RequirementsOccasional lifting up to 25 poundsThe above statements provide a brief description of the general nature of work performed and are not intended to be a complete list of responsibilities, duties, and skills required for this position.

    Employment is contingent upon a clear driving record, 10-year Criminal History Records Check, and drug screen as required. We also require proof of high school or GED completion. Minimum 18 years of age.
    Benefit package includes paid training, holiday pay, 401(k), vacation, and family travel on the American Airlines network. Medical and dental available.
