About this Opportunity
Ball State University seeks Assistant/Associate Professor in Information and Communication Sciences.
All faculty in the Center are industry professionals, as well as experienced teachers and researchers. CICS is the first institution nationally to have two faculty members certified as Amazon Web Services Cloud Practitioners. Recently, the Center also welcomed the undergraduate Computer and Information Technology program, a Bachelor of Science degree program of long standing at Ball State. The Center also welcomed the Career and Technical Education master's degree program and the Director of Career and Technical Education Licensure program. In addition to the academic program elements, the Center also provides a broad Student Social Learning Program to help the Information and Communication master's degree students as they grow professionally.

Description
The Center for Information and Communication Sciences is investing in two full-year (11-month), tenure track positions available beginning in August 2024. A start date of May 2024 is subject to negotiation. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in some combination of topics from the following domains. Candidates should speak explicitly in their cover letter to the domains of expertise that they are prepared to teach.

• MIS: Management Sciences, Decision Sciences, Information Sciences, Product Management, Project Management, Program Management, Portfolio Management, Human Communications, Strategic Planning. (Potential Certifications: PMP, ITIL, PMI).
• Network & Security: Network Design, Network Protocols, Cybersecurity. (Potential Certifications: CompTIA Network+, Security+, Cisco Certifications, CEH, CISSP, CCSP).
• Cloud Technologies: Cloud Services, Cloud Development, Cloud Architect, Cloud Administration, etc. (Potential Certifications: Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud).

Minimum Qualifications

• Master's degree in an appropriate field (e.g., Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Data Science and Analytics, MIS, Business Administration, Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction) from an accredited institution and at least ten years of technology-related professional experience.

OR

• Possess or be ABD in a terminal degree (e.g., PhD, DBA, DIT, EdD, JD) in an appropriate field (e.g., Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Data Science and Analytics, MIS, Business Administration, Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction) from an accredited institution.

Authorization to work in the US

Preferred Qualifications

• Evidence of scholarship. Scholarship is the process of attaining new knowledge, creating a new work, or re-creating/interpreting existing works, and disseminating the results. Generally, this takes the form of appropriate peer-reviewed publications, presentations or exhibits, other creative endeavors, development and grant proposals. Scholarship can occur in four areas: discovery, integration, application, and teaching. Other forms of scholarship can be considered.
• Relevant business and technical experience and demonstrated applied academic or industry scholarship. The ideal candidate will be able to teach on-campus/online courses in current technologies including some combination of topics from the above domains.
• Experience leading IT/MIS projects such as IT infrastructure, software engineering, security infrastructure, etc.
• Ability to manage multiple projects within and outside of classroom environment.
• Ability to provide advising and career development for a diverse graduate student population.
• Ability to qualify for graduate faculty status at the rank of assistant/associate professor.
• A history of leadership in either industry or higher education.
