Job Summary
The Re-imagine EHR group in the Department of Biomedical Informatics at the University of Utah is seeking a Data Scientist.
The candidate will be expected to initiate and drive projects to completion and communicate the results of analyses in a clear and effective manner with minimal guidance and can demonstrate their extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
This position has the potential for remote/hybrid work.An employee hired into this role may be responsible for providing space, printing, networking, and/or internet capabilities at the telecommuting location and agree to the terms of the University of Utah campus and Health Academics Telecommuting Agreement.
ResponsibilitiesEssential Duties
Perform data integration, transformation, and cleaning involving multiple complex healthcare data sources, including electronic health records from different healthcare systems, surveys, and application log data.
Map, transform, and process existing datasets into healthcare standard terminologies (e.g., ICD10, SNOMED , LOINC , RxNorm) and models (e.g., FHIR , OMOP ).
Interpret results from multiple healthcare data sources using a variety of techniques, ranging from simple data aggregation via statistical analysis to complex data mining independently.
Collaborate with researchers on the conduct of large, team science clinical trials investigating informatics and digital health interventions.
Perform a variety of tasks as directed.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 6 years of related experience in the field or related area or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience) required.
Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.
Candidates with a Masters or PhD in Biomedical Informatics may be preferred.
Experience with machine learning and clinical data may be preferred.
Experience with healthcare interoperability standards may be preferred.
