    WRPS, the tank farm operating contractor at the Hanford Site, is the largest environmental cleanup organization in the world with numerous dynamic engineering teams coordinated between nuclear operations and other critical projects in hopes to serve the WRPS mission. The mission is to safely store, retrieve, and treat 56 million gallons of legacy radioactive and hazardous waste dating back to the Manhattan Project and Cold War. You will gain the fundamental engineering knowledge critical to executing a complex multi-disciplined effort to cleanup radioactive and hazardous waste. The complex mission spans all competencies of engineering/science accomplished through a highly integrating engineering organization. Engineering at WRPS consists of Process Engineering, Design Engineering, Nuclear Safety, Plant/System Engineering, Construction Project Engineering, Flowsheet Integration, Process and Control Systems, and the Chief Technology Office.

    The Civil Engineer works in the Tank Farm Project and Chief Technology Office Organization, supporting the Tank Farms Projects (TFP) Engineering team and will work closely with other project engineers, project managers and internal/external agencies. This position will work within the Effluent Treatment Facility Engineering group supporting Design, Fabrication, Installation, Testing and Turnover for a wide variety of projects. The successful candidate will interface with other engineering groups to execute and implement upgrades and expansion of the Effluent Treatment Facility (ETF) as a project engineer.

    The candidate should be a motivated engineer interested in joining a high performing team focused on project execution, worker safety and deploying innovative engineering solutions to handle Hanford's most challenging tasks.

    Tasks include supporting all engineering aspects of their assigned projects to include performing field walk downs, interfacing with craft/field crews, presenting to Department of Energy, development of Engineering Change Documentation and Statements of Work (SOW) as well as working with various internal and external design A&E and fabrication vendors.

    The Civil Engineer filling these roles will:

    Act as a fully competent engineer in all conventional aspects of the subject matter or the functional area of the assignments.

    Plan and conduct work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection and adaptation or modification of standard techniques, procedures and criteria.

    Demonstrate interpolative patterned thinking and require minimal guidance.

    Work in an organizational team that encourages innovative solutions and technology development streamlines equipment removal, installation, decontamination and disposal, that Functions as a team member and/or leader.

    Meet the following scope and expectations:

    Perform engineering calculations, analysis, studies, and recommendations for a specialized segment of engineering within schedule and budget of an assigned project.

    Complete understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories and concepts in the field.

    General knowledge of other related disciplines.

    Set challenging goals for personal and group accomplishments.

    Develop and sustain productive customer relationships.

    Prepare Statements of Work, design products, procurements, specifications, etc.

    Required Qualifications

    Grade 14:

    Bachelor of Science (BS) in Civil Engineering or related technical discipline or successful completion of degree by June 30, 2024.

    Grade 15:

    Bachelor of Science (BS) in Civil Engineering or related technical discipline

    One (1) year related experience

    Note the essential duties for this grade level are like that of the previous grade level, however the scope of responsibility is larger, and the expected level of performance is increased.

    Grade 16:

    Bachelor of Science (BS) in Civil Engineering or related technical discipline

    Two (2) years related experience

    Note the essential duties for this grade level are like that of the previous grade level, however the scope of responsibility is significantly larger, and the expected level of performance is greatly increased.

    Grade 14:

    Hiring Range Minimum: $71,200

    Hiring Range Maximum: $89,800

    Grade 15:

    Hiring Range Minimum: $78,338

    Hiring Range Maximum: $98,813

    Grade 16:

    Hiring Range Minimum: $86,138

    Hiring Range Maximum: $108,513

    In accordance with the company's philosophy on compensation for exempt and salaried non-exempt employees, WRPS takes into consideration a variety of factors when determining initial salary to include assigned job scope and responsibility, a candidate's qualifications as compared to internal comparators performing in a similar role, and the external labor market. A salary offer will be made within the targeted hiring range posted. Note a candidate's prior salary history will not be taken into consideration.
