    Description
    The Medical Assistant's role is essential during the patient visit: rooming and greeting the patient, obtaining appropriate intake information, giving report to the dermatology provider on the patient, accompanying the dermatology provider in the room with the patient and scribing the information from the dermatology provider about the visit. The Medical Assistant also prepares for procedures and assists as necessary. Other duties of the Medical assistant include, but are not limited to, drawing blood, suture removals, treating patients scheduled for phototherapy, sterilizing instruments, stocking exam rooms and addressing phone notes and prior authorizations as needed while promoting a friendly and efficient environment for patients, staff, and dermatologists. Essential Functions:
    • Rooms patients and documents all vital information prior to exam with provider such as:
    • Chief complaint
    • Medical History
    • Family History
    • Social history
    • Review of systems
    • Scribes all information for the provider regarding the patient encounter including but not limited to:
    • Physical exam
    • Assessment
    • Procedures
    • Prescriptions
    • Consents
    • Operative/ Pathology reports
    • Letters sent back to PCP and / or referring provider
    • MIPS required documentation
    • Obtains informed consents to patients prior to procedures
    • Assist the providers with or under the supervision of the providers to perform the following procedures but not limited to:
    • Surgical photographs
    • Biopsies – punch, DIF, and shave
    • Excisions
    • Mohs micrographic skin cancer surgery (if clinic performs MOHS)
    • Electrodessication and curettage
    • Phlebotomy
    • Phototherapy (if clinic is equipped)
    • Injections
    • Patch testing
    • Instrument sterilization
    • Blue light (if clinic is equipped)
    • Patient education
    • Schedules and coordinates patient appointments following company protocols, procedures, and physician schedule templates when applicable
    • Must continually learn and be able to explain new and existing dermatological conditions
    • Records required information on patient logs (pathology, biopsy, lab, temperature).
    • Adherence to compliance and completion of compliance training.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned.
