    Job Responsibilities

    Developing and Implementing Safety Protocols: developing and implementing safety protocols

    and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for all employees. This includes conducting

    risk assessments, creating safety training programs, and establishing emergency response plans.

    Monitoring Compliance: ensure that the plant complies with all relevant health, safety, and

    environmental regulations and standards set by local, national, and international authorities. This

    involves staying up to date with changing regulations and conducting regular audits to assess

    compliance.

    Incident Investigation and Prevention: If accidents or incidents occur, the HS&E manager leads

    investigations to determine the root causes and develops measures to prevent similar incidents in

    the future. This may involve analyzing data, conducting interviews, and implementing corrective

    actions.

    Workers Compensation Claims: File workers compensation claim, coordinate information with

    claims adjustors and brokers, monitor employee treatment progress, and evaluate ability to offer

    modified duty and return to work process.

    Employee Training and Education: provides ongoing training and education to employees on

    safety procedures, environmental awareness, and regulatory compliance. They may also conduct

    drills and simulations to ensure readiness for emergencies.

    Environmental Management: oversee environmental management initiatives, including waste

    management, pollution prevention, and sustainable practices. This may involve implementing

    recycling programs, reducing energy consumption, and ensuring proper disposal of hazardous

    materials.

    Managing Safety Data Sheets (SDS): Safety Data Sheets provide information on the properties of

    chemicals and how they affect health and safety in the workplace. The manager would ensure that

    SDSs are readily available for all chemicals used in the manufacturing process and that employees

    are trained on handling hazardous materials safely.

    Collaboration with Stakeholders: collaborates with internal stakeholders such as operations,

    maintenance, and human resources departments to ensure a coordinated approach to health, safety,

    and environmental management. They may also engage with external stakeholders such as

    regulatory agencies, community groups, and suppliers.

    Supplier and Contractor Safety: Ensuring that suppliers and contractors comply with safety and

    environmental standards when working on-site is crucial for maintaining a safe work environment.

    The manager would adhere to corporate policies for supplier and contractor safety and conduct

    audits to ensure compliance.

    Continuous Improvement: continually evaluates processes and procedures to identify areas for

    improvement in safety performance, environmental impact, and regulatory compliance. Responsible

    for conducting continual hazard and risk assessments, identifying, and implementing appropriate

    control measures, and fostering a proactive approach to safety management in the plant. This helps

    to minimize the likelihood of incidents and injuries, protect the well-being of employees, and ensure

    regulatory compliance.

    Metrics and Reporting: supports corporate HS&E targets and plant Key Performance Indicators

    (KPIs) by aligning local initiatives with broader organizational goals, implementing processes and

    new initiatives. By doing so we can ensure compliance, promoting a culture of safety, and driving

    continuous improvement.
