    Environmental Manager

    Location:
    Quincy - Illinois - US

    Reports To:
    Plant Manager


    Summary:
    Maintains operations in compliance with all federal and state environmental laws. Oversees the environmental program. Oversees and coordinates all capital projects and proposals.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
    Includes the following. Other duties may be assigned.
     Maintains and creates a safe working environment for all employees. Looks for opportunity to get employees involved in safety, process changes and overall improvement efforts.
     Completes all environmental reports including EPCRA reporting, maintains records, and keeps abreast of all new requirements.
     Completes all environmental sampling for site.
     Oversees Management of Change program
     Member of the emergency response team.
     Reviews all new products/chemicals and projects for environmental impact assessment.
     Coordinates detailed technical activities involved in the management and disposal of hazardous material and chemicals. Provides for the collection, transportation and storage of all classes of waste.
     Prepares and presents all new capital requests, project scope and justifications.
     Coordinates and manages project implementations.
     Enters and maintains all MSDS documentation for the plant.
     Analyzes, evaluates, and presents information concerning factors such as production capabilities and new processes or equipment for consideration by other members of management team.
     Implement IT software technologies to facilitate effective environmental programs; i.e., review reports and data from Ops Environmental, Dakota Tracer, EHS Management system on regular basis.
     Provide technical expertise for plant environmental activities/issues.
     Training – Responsible for all environmental training –plant wide.
     Cooperates and coordinates with other top management personnel in formulating and establishing company policies, operating procedures and goals.
     Actively participates in the weekly safety meeting.
     Looks for opportunity to get employees involved in safety, environmental, process changes and overall improvement efforts.
     Follows all EHS guidelines and applicable procedures.
     Read, understand and follow the Job Safety Analysis (JSA).
     Report any unsafe conditions or incidents in a timely manner to their supervisor or any member of management.
     Shut down process if unsafe.

    Supervisory Responsibilities
    Manages subordinates in the department. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems

    Education and/or Experience:


    Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university and 2 years work experience; or five + years related experience and training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


    Language Skills:
    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

    Mathematical Skills
    Basic understanding, and functional use of, statistics, plane and solid geometry, trigonometry, and algebraic skills. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.


    Reasoning Ability:


    Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

    Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.


    Computer Skills:


    To perform this job successfully, an individual should have strong PC skills and experience with various Microsoft operating systems and software.
