    • Mission Support Job Description The Building People, LLC, has a position open for a full-time Senior Environmental Protection Specialist, with an active Top Secret Clearance
    The Environmental Protection will assist the Environmental Protection Lead with the establishment and maintenance of environmental compliance program via inspections, staff assistance visits, consulting with agency organizations, and comprehensive understanding of agency processes
    Recommends changes for improvements to eliminate waste generated and minimize utilization of chemical materials
    Responsibilities include, but not limited to: Program Planning and Sustainability: National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) program
    Serves as an expert for complete NEPA analysis and documentation to include compliance with applicable laws and regulations, to include, Endangered Species Act (ESA), National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), Clean Water Act (CWA), Clean Air Act (CAA), etc
    Monitors NEPA operations and provides corrective actions as required to ensure compliance and coordinated actions
    Reviews major and minor construction design projects for compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements
    Implements environmental protection guidance from the Government on programs, policies, and regulations to ensure compliance with FBI, Department of Army (DA), Department of Defense (DOD), and Federal, state, regional, and local monitoring and enforcement agency statutory and regulatory requirements

    Environmental program planning:
    Assists in planning the overall direction of environmental program for FBI at Redstone and participates in policy development in the areas of compliance, conservation, prevention, and restoration
    Provides assistance to agency activities and ensures they comply with Federal, state and local environmental laws and FBI, Department of Defense (DOD), Department of Army (DA) regulations
    Implements requirements established by public laws, executive orders, DA, and FBI for proper environmental program management
    Participates in the development of FBI at Redstone environmental policy and guidance to ensure the agency achieves and maintains compliance
    Maintains close contact with environmental compliance officers on the installation
    Works with other Environmental Protection Specialists to ensure that a highly technical and detailed internal control system is developed and monitored to maintain compliance with environmental laws
    Manages one or more environmental programs, such as: Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA); National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA); Clean Air Act; Clean Water Act; Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act; Pollution Prevention Act; Toxic Substance Control Act; Solid Waste Management; and Water, Wastewater, and Storm Water Programs
    Has extensive knowledge of the following, but not limited to: Clean Air Act (CAA); Clean Water Act (CWA); Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA); Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (Subtitles C and D) (RCRA-C, RCRA-D); Comprehensive Environmental Response Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA); Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA); Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA); National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA); Cultural Resources; Endangered Species Act (ESA) and Natural Resources; National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA); Noise Abatement; Environmental Program Management; Hazardous Materials Management and Pollution Prevention)

    Environmental Compliance:
    Provides assistance to agency on issues concerning environmental compliance with Federal, state and local laws and DA regulations
    Assists with regulatory agency communication with achieving and maintaining compliance
    Prepares presentations for agency
    Keeps abreast of latest technological and scientific advancements
    Informs executive management of changes that may impact the agency

    Surveys:
    Assists in the development of agency regulations and policies to effectively manage the areas of compliance, conservation, prevention, and restoration
    Participates in inspections, staff assistance visits, and surveys conducted on the campus
    Provides recommendations and prepares reports as deemed necessary

    Skills & Requirements Qualifications:

    • Active Top Secret Clearance
    • Minimum 8+ years' experience in environmental compliance.
    • Degree in Environmental studies, environmental science, environmental management, or similar, required
    (Master's or higher preferred) Qualifications *Our positions may require a background screening and clearance directly from the Government
