    The Linux administrator will assist Fleet Weather Center San Diego (FWC-SD) by providing IT support services to include cybersecurity (CS).

    Work will include routine hardware and software system administration, information assurance, and desktop/server support functions. This support is associated with both unclassified and classified systems.

    This is a full-time, on-site position located at Naval Air Station North Island (NASNI) in San Diego, California.


    Job Duties:
    Support Linux, Web, and database operating systems.
    Develop, test, document, implement, and maintain PHP scripts and automated web delivery of meteorological sensor data and forecast products.
    Implement directed information assurance testing and updates, and complete information assurance compliance reporting activities.
    Maintain operational readiness of installed IT systems including hardware and software integration.

    Maintain the operational readiness and compliant cyber security posture of IT assets assigned to the contractor to perform system administration.

    Ensure implementation of information assurance best practices and reporting procedures.
    Provide Cybersecurity remediation support, on an as needed basis.

    Provide technical and engineering support for IT change management and upgrades at Fleet Weather Centers San Diego and JTWC Pearl Harbor.

    Maintain hard copy and soft copy turnover notebook to include site IT configuration data and key external interfaces, during completion and turnover.

    Install, patch, and maintain Red Hat Enterprise Linux systems.
    Ensure system security operations and maintenance activities are properly documented.
    Review, analyze, and interpret system logs and audit files.

    Analyze potential impact to system operations when implementing system security measures in accordance with established procedures to ensure confidentiality, integrity, availability, authentication, and non-repudiation.

    Develop and maintain web applications and scripts for data manipulation and distribution.

    Assisting with security control implementation and testing efforts
    Assisting in the mitigation and closure of open vulnerabilities
    Assisting with cybersecurity testing to assess security controls and recording security control compliance.
    Advise and assist in accomplishing best practices in accordance with DoD and DoN policies, directives, and instructions.

    Support the Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM) and Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) in fielding questions, conduct the necessary research to provide answers and recommend methods to facilitate and broaden cybersecurity awareness, including collaboration techniques to educate others on cybersecurity compliance issues and potential solutions to secure and compliant interoperability.

    Assist with the analysis of newly promulgated guidance to determine the impact on operational requirements, prepare/recommend resulting revisions to existing FLEWEACEN San Diego Cybersecurity procedures/policy/guidance.

    Assisting in the mitigation and closure of open vulnerabilities under the system's change control process

    Identify, interpret, and apply DoD and DoN policy to support FLEWEACEN San Diego in the maintenance of Cybersecurity Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).


    Required Experience:
    DoD 8570 IAT/IAM II certification such as Security+
    Cybersecurity Workforce (CSWF) certification
    Experience with Linux operating systems in RHEL 7 and 8
    Active Secret Clearance with T5 (formerly known as SSBI) investigation
