Multi-attorney family law firm in downtown Charlottesville seeks full time legal assistant / paralegal to assist attorneys with litigation-related legal tasks.

Preferred candidates will have prior family law experience, or at least, prior litigation law office experience.

Duties include:

interacting with clients and other attorneys, reviewing and propounding discovery, assisting clients with discovery answers and responses to document requests; issuing witness and document subpoenas; communicating with court staff members; assisting attorneys with litigation tasks, inc.

trial preparation, typing documents, mailing documents, copying and scanning documents, filing, communicating with clients, opposing attorneys, and their staff, delivering documents to other local offices, and other general office duties.

You must be able to work as a team with other office staff and attorneys.

The ideal candidate will be able to multi-task and will have a positive attitude, an outgoing personality, and professional appearance and demeanor when interacting with others.

Attention to detail is necessary, as are strong oral and written communication skills. Position is 5 days per week, with schedule flexibility an option for the right candidate. Compensation depends on experience and includes additional monthly commission. Smoke free office. Friendly and collegial atmosphere. Free parking. All inquiries held in strict confidence.
