    Description

    As a Professional Liability Associate at our New Jersey-based law firm, you will play a crucial role in representing professionals, including attorneys, accountants, architects, engineers, and other practitioners, in liability matters. You will handle a variety of tasks, including legal research, drafting pleadings, managing discovery, and representing clients in mediations, arbitrations, and court proceedings.

    Key Responsibilities:

    1. Case Management: Handle a caseload of professional liability matters from inception to resolution, including evaluating claims, developing legal strategies, and managing all aspects of litigation.
    2. Legal Research and Analysis: Conduct thorough legal research on issues related to professional liability law, including negligence, malpractice, breach of fiduciary duty, and other relevant legal principles.
    3. Drafting: Prepare pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests, and other legal documents necessary for the prosecution or defense of professional liability claims.
    4. Client Communication: Maintain regular communication with clients to provide updates on case developments, discuss legal strategies, and address client concerns.
    5. Discovery Management: Manage the discovery process, including drafting and responding to written discovery requests, conducting depositions, and coordinating expert witness retention and testimony.
    6. Alternative Dispute Resolution: Represent clients in mediations, arbitrations, settlement negotiations, and other alternative dispute resolution proceedings aimed at resolving professional liability claims efficiently and cost-effectively.
    7. Courtroom Representation: Conduct court appearances, argue motions, and represent clients at hearings, trials, and appellate proceedings in state and federal courts.
    8. Risk Management Counseling: Provide proactive risk management advice to professionals and their firms to help prevent potential liability exposures and mitigate risks.
    9. Client Development: Participate in business development activities, including networking events, client seminars, and industry conferences, to expand the firm's professional liability practice and cultivate new client relationships.

    Qualifications:

    • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
    • Admission to the New Jersey State Bar or eligibility for admission via reciprocity.
    • 2-5 years of experience in professional liability defense litigation or related practice areas.
    • Strong understanding of professional liability law, including applicable statutes, regulations, and case law.
