    Description

    Position: Accessibility Consultant

    Location: Woodlawn, MD (Hybrid – 2 days onsite/week) – Consultants from MD/VA are preferred

    Selected candidate must reside within 2 hours of Client location - Woodlawn, MD.

    Experience: 10-12 years

    Key Required Skills:

    Strong knowledge of accessibility standards (508, WCAG, ADA), user research, requirements gathering, special projects, process improvement, JAWS, ANDI, ARIA, universal design, service design

    Position Description:

    Advise on defining, standardizing, & implementing accessibility activities across the enterprise and within the Customer Experience (CX) Team and in a way that is compatible with the agency's approach to product management.

    Using industry best practices and benchmarking with private sector entities, provide strategic consulting on conducting customer research related to accessibility, and identifying and applying accessibility insights and recommendations from customer research/discovery sessions to guide service design.

    Provide guidance developing research plans, such as inclusion of accessibility-specific questions in surveys and interviews.

    Provide accessibility strategic support in our CX program's human centered design (HCD) activities with our different stakeholders.

    Participate in internal team working sessions and executive level meetings to gather feedback, present findings and propose solutions.

    Provide strategic advisory and mentoring/Coaching to internal staff in accessibility utilizing current industry best practices, case studies, lessons learned, and open-source tools to build our employee skills so they can become mature and do this work on their own.

    Review and provide input on prepared government documents and presentations for accessibility feedback and comments.

    Basic Qualifications:

    Strong analytical and problem-solving skills allowing for individual to identify, analyze, troubleshoot, and respond to complex problems while supporting users accurately and efficiently.

    Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills.

    Excellent written and verbal communication.

    Bachelor's degree and 12 Years of relevant work experience OR Master's degree and 10 Years of relevant work experience as an Accessibility Consultant or a minimum of 18 years related experience in lieu of a degree.

    Other Certification (optional but preferred): DHS Trusted Tester.

    Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust. Contract requirement.

    Required Skills:

    Minimum of 6 years of experience supporting accessibility standards, including Section 508, WCAG 2.0/2.1, and ARIA guidelines

    Minimum of 6 years of experience conducting accessibility assessments, audits, and user testing, with a deep understanding of common assistive technologies and accessibility testing tools.

    Minimum of 6 years of experience implementing and utilizing various accessibility tools including but not limited to JAWS, ANDI, NVDA, and ZoomText

    Minimum of 3 years of experience supporting accessibility efforts for a federal government agency or similar organization

    Ability to prioritize and complete assignments independently, meet deadlines, and manage multiple changing priorities in a dynamic work environment.

    Ability to support multiple projects at the same time, each with their own unique set of requirements and needs.

    Ability to be flexible and react appropriately to changing job assignments, work environments, and work locations.

    Consistently demonstrates a positive, supportive, and constructive attitude with both internal and external customers as well as peers.

    Ability to write technical documentation and plain language documentation dependent on audience.

    Self-motivated, task-driven, and able to quickly learn new skills.

    Demonstrated understanding of navigating and adapting to unique constraints (i.e. policy, infrastructure)

    Desired Skills:

    Understanding of UX and user research methodologies

    Experience with the Agile/Scrum methodology

    Experience with service design methodology

    Support and troubleshooting of mobile devices (Android, iOS)

    Prior experience supporting government agencies.

    Understanding of agile framework and full life-cycle software development methodologies

    Project management certifications (PMP, CAPM, PMI)​

    Education:
