This OpportunityWSP is currently initiating a search for a Geotechnical & Tunneling Engineer for our Worcester, MA office.
Be involved in projects with our Geotechnical & Tunneling Team, take on a leadership role, and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client's objectives and solves their challenges.
Serve as a senior technical resource and manage a team of geotechnical and tunneling engineers in the New England area including tracking active projects and budgets, delegating tasks, coordinating across disciplines within project teams, coordinating with subconsultants, reviewing work, and providing professional guidance.
Perform professional geotechnical engineering work including design for geotechnical and tunneling projects, subsurface investigations, soil foundation engineering, pile foundations, ground improvement, settlement analysis, soil erosion, lateral earth pressures, geological hazards, underground water, slope stability, and operations to determine conformance with applicable rules, standards, construction, or operating permits for commercial, industrial, building, environmental, infrastructure, and transportation projects.
Provide guidance with collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from the physical work site, soil/water/sludge/rock samples, surveys, blueprints, GIS data, subsurface utility information, maps, hydrologic analysis, geotechnical data, and other matrices for project development, design, and construction.
Apply high-level geotechnical engineering techniques and processes to identify improvements for various infrastructure project phases including concept development, preliminary design, final design, procurement, construction, and operation.
Develop construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates; preparing construction safety and phasing plans, and updating infrastructure layout plans that require coordination with owners, other disciplines, sub-consultants, and clients.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
10+ years of relevant post education experience in geotechnical engineering engineering and design.
Massachusetts PE registration.
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP"s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
Effective self-leadership with attention to detail, results orientation, and managing multiple priorities in a dynamic work environment.
Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, follow instruction, work independently, and comply with company policies.
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
Master's Degree in Engineering with Geotechnical Engineering focus
40-Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER) (29 CFR preferred.
Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training desired.
