    Parts & Purchasing Director:

    We're looking for a Parts & Purchasing Director to bring leadership, structure, and ownership to our parts department while driving inventory accuracy, vendor performance, and internal support.

    Role Overview:

    The Parts & Purchasing Director is responsible for the full lifecycle of parts operations, from sourcing and vendor relationships to inventory accuracy and service support. This role leads the parts team, ensures the right components are available at the right time, controls costs, and supports both service and sales operations with consistency and urgency.

    This is a leadership role for someone who thrives on organization, accountability, and continuous improvement in a hands-on environment.

    Key Responsibilities Listed Below:

    Leadership & Team Management:
    • Lead and oversee daily operations of the parts department.
    • Assign work, monitor performance, and provide training and coaching.
    • Establish clear expectations around safety, accuracy, and customer service.
    • Build a culture of accountability, teamwork, and operational excellence.
    Inventory & Parts Management:
    • Manage ordering, receiving, stocking, and issuing of parts.
    • Maintain optimal inventory levels to support service demand without overstocking.
    • Oversee cycle counts and annual physical inventories.
    • Ensure inventory accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
    Vendor & Supplier Management:
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors and distributors.
    • Negotiate pricing, discounts, and purchasing terms.
    • Track backorders and ensure timely deliveries.
    • Resolve vendor issues and maintain preferred supplier lists.
    • Communicate vendor or process changes internally.
    Service Department Support:
    • Work closely with technicians to ensure correct parts availability.
    • Verify part numbers, substitutions, and compatibility.
    • Manage warranty claims, returns, and cores.
    • Prioritize urgent parts to support service uptime goals.
    Customer Service & Counter Support:
    • Support internal and external customers with accurate parts lookup and sales.
    • Advise on proper part usage and alternatives.
    • Handle escalated issues related to availability, pricing, or quality.
    Financial & Administrative Oversight:
    • Monitor parts sales, margins, and departmental profitability.
    • Approve invoices and reconcile vendor statements.
    • Control shrinkage, obsolete inventory, and write-offs.
    • Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs).
    Compliance & Safety:
    • Ensure compliance with OSHA, environmental, and company safety standards.
    • Enforce proper handling and storage of hazardous materials.
    • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
    What We're Looking For:
    • Proven leadership experience in parts, purchasing, or inventory management.
    • Strong understanding of parts systems, catalogs, and inventory controls.
    • Experience negotiating with vendors and managing supplier relationships.
    • Ability to troubleshoot supply chain and inventory challenges.
    • Strong communication skills with a service-oriented mindset.
    • Comfortable working cross-functionally with service, sales, and accounting.
