    • Requests and interprets necessary laboratory and radiographic data for patient treatment management and progress evaluation.
    • Analyzes information gathered, identifies problems and sets priorities.
    • Identifies the effect of health status on family members.
    • Utilizes appropriate communication/interpersonal skills in dealing with families and health team members, presenting positive professional representation of family centered care.
    • Proficient in a variety of EMR applications.
    • Formulates the appropriate differential diagnoses based on the history, physical exam and clinical findings.
    • Conduct hospital rounds on identified patients.
    • Assesses patients/family expectations about treatment outcomes, explains their role in planning care.
    • Write orders and progress notes.
    • Order appropriate laboratory and radiographic test.
    • Evaluate patient's clinical condition, formulate and implement therapeutic plans of care.
    • Facilitates communication between physician, patient, family, and all health team members to ensure a unified approach to the plan of care.
    • Coordinate discharge of patients with appropriate disposition, follow-up, adjunctive therapy management and education.
    • Complete discharge summaries.
    • Identifies learning needs, in collaboration with the leadership team. They are validated and prioritized based on evidence and standard of care changes, competency needs, assessment of quality activities, safety and risk management data, and patient population goals.
    • Develops, coordinates, and/or presents educational programs related to area of expertise to meet learner's needs.
    • Integrates current practice, new research findings and technological advances into educational programming.
    • Mentors staff resulting in employee development along a continuum of novice to expert.
    • Mentors students and/or residents in specialty area to advance a culture and commitment to learning.

    Job Description: The Trauma Advanced Practice Provider (Trauma APP) is part of the Trauma Team at Mercy Hospital, providing care for injured patients throughout their hospitalization. This includes assessment, evaluation, treatment, and appropriate referrals. The Trauma APP will work collaboratively with the rest of the Trauma Team to ensure consistent, high-quality care and enable admission and management of the majority of injured patients to the Trauma Service.
